I miss the wackiness!
I'm still fully in favour of a "Weird events" table, including stuff from the old cards and any other cool ideas we can come up with, that is activated by a double 1 on an armour roll.

Oh no ... please no ... I was looking forward to new Elf figs without new rules .... sigh ... oh well. Yes, I run a league with 76 team rosters, but even I can cry Uncle can't I.Marcus wrote:Milo: Andy and Jervis mentioned new rules for the new elf miniatures in the NAF seminar. The old High Elves would be put aside* and the new miniatures would step up to the breach. I'm expecting similar, but slightly different to the High Elves.
It makes sense they'd have new rules, given GW's "figure for every rule and a rule for every figure" policy
*High Elf rosters will remain official and not dropped. The new fluff is they are a "High Elf State Team" - Professional players. The new Elves are more down and dirty.

Wackiness is great antd there is plenty of room for it. It was all crap that would cost you the game even though you played better that I couldn't stand.wesleytj wrote:Yes you are. I hope.Pariah wrote: God, am I the only one that wants whackiness back in the game?
Whatever happened to that idea Thadrin?

FWIW I'm looking forward to the new roster. I'd be impressed to see if you can find a way to find a niche for the new Elves as the market's pretty saturated already. So long as they don't all have the same stat line and all get the same skill to start with I'm sure I'll like themMilo wrote: From the rules I've seen, I consider them an improvement in team design and uniqueness, but not an improvement in team power level. Not that that will reassure anyone, because we're clearly all powergamers at the BBRC...

I remember this poor coach who spent his first season with High Elves...losing and losing and losing and losing. He was convinced it was a lack of a big guy. lol (Nevermind the other High Elf team was 3rd place. lol)
Well he switched to chaos (I think) anyway he started with an ogre. First game he goes up against a coach who was a real SOB and his ogre is peaked.
I didn't want to laugh at him cuz he was the kind of guy that couldn't take that kind of taunting but the look on his face was just priceless. You'd think somebody killed his dog! I thought he was gonna cry. He got so mad that he played the rest of the game in silence and then left right after.

As far as wackiness in the game, I'm all for it! So long as the teams are balanced and all have a fair/random shot at the fun. Put wizards back on the rosters, bring the cards back, workable secret weapons, give SPPs for fouling (maybe even just 1 SP), etc.
It's sad that all the fouling, weapons, spells, and general chaos that's depicted on the box cover isn't really that emphasized in the game. Is there a false advertisement suit there...?
