I will say this: the only time in my life anyone offered my cocaine on the street was in Amsterdam :D

I would watch your language, Norse...don't refer to your opinions on America as a "genuine observation" since you admitted you hadn't been there. Sounds more like an impression. Certainly violent crime is much higher here than in Europe...whereas white-collar crime is more common in Europe, from the numbers I've heard.

I love the U.S. for the freedom it provides...more cultural freedom than anything else. At least, living in the big city, we really can live the life we want in many ways. My experiences in Europe led me to believe that the stronger homogeneity of the culture in each place makes it harder to live your own life.

But I certainly don't think of Europe as better or worse than the U.S., just interestingly different.

Vive la difference!

p.s. I thought Amsterdam was a gorgeous city. I'd love to go back. If I ever do, I'll bring my Bloodbowl board...

The only thing you should put on fries is gravy and cheese curds.

I think we all need to remember that the vast majority of us live in the 'free world', such as it is. Of course, it's all relative, A'Dam is lax in it's drug laws, and AFAIK there are still 'dry counties' in the USA. In England we have draconian licensing laws compared to a lot of nations.
Cultures are always going to be different, and on a multi-national board like this, gross generalisations based on nationality have no place. (At least not in any seriousness! ) I've made a lot of friends from a lot of different countries through BB, and that's exactly as it should be. Time to put this one to bed methinks.
..and hey..I like mayo on chips!! :P

Business trip to Argentina got me hooked on Salsa Golf which is what they server with French Fries there. Its half Mayo and half Ketchup ... I still use that combo to this day when I think my arterties can take it.

that's like 50x worse than the mayo thing.

i usually eat my fries plain, not even salt...but when i do bother to dip em, it's in ketchup or barbeque sauce.

Chili, cheese, and onions aren't too bad either...
