The special balls are now exclusively released in the almanacs (no longer white dwarf). We are getting special balls for all the related teams in almanac 2019. Wonder if it has more new and exclusive content (for someone who already have all spike magazines). Would also be interested in a list of changes/fixes between spike magazines and almanac.

New content in the almanac is really limited to the ball rules for Shambling Undead, Halflings, Wood Elves and Lizaedmen.

In addition the pitch rules for the 4 teams are included.

Beyond that there is the updated star player list, some FAQ entries, a fashion blurb plus an intro piece from Jim and Bob and another from Borak.

I'd say I'd read through the new content in 10 minutes. Not sure it is worth the purchase if you are after original content....but it is a nicely presented product

So a Snotling team is coming, which is interesting, hopefully it would feature snotlings with their old Titchy rule, i.e. having multiple snotlings on the pitch determined by a roll against each snotling placed on the pitch, then a few trolls and a Pump Wagon. would be nice to have another tier 3 team in the mix.

In terms of this release. I think disposable was an elegant solution to how terrible ogres were and once people work out the best starting roster and how best to abuse inducements should see ogres perform considerably better than they used to. I think it's a shame the runt punter is 150k, as he swapped TTM out for KTM, however with P Access he will obviously become a leader caddy

without testing it looks to me as though the way to play ogres now is -

3 RR 210k
1 Punter 150k
2 Ogres 280k 640k
11 snotlings 860k
1 apothecary 910k

which means you have 2 spots for star players, and a TV of 690k, so 310k for inducements ish
so if you take bomber at 60k along with one of the gobos or fling stars which you can get a 4th RR. Or you take2 of of big jobo, nobbla or scrappa.

It still a pretty useless team mind, i think its a shame grak and crumbbleberry weren't re-worked and brought in as a star players. But they are much better at fouling now, with the choice of 2x DP stars, and 1 chainsaw with a +3 to av for fouls.

_________

We still really need to know whether or not we can RR the Kick Team Mate roll though. This roll determines the Distance they are kicked and Distance cannot be re-rolled, but the wording doesn't specifically describe the roll as being for distance even though it is clearly what the roll is for. So it can really be argued either way. We really need clarity on this. I've asked blood bowl FAQ and put a question in rules query on this site. Plus someone else has asked this question on the facebook thread.

If you were playing at my house, league or tourney I would not let you reroll the distance.

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

Funny thing is Undead special ball (Skeletal Homunculus) is not new at all, it was released 1 year ago (White Dwarf). Pitches are not new either.

For one of the inducements (Bottles of Heady Brew or Hafling Hot Pot), it had an additional team available to it. Previously released for Halfings, it listed Halflings and Ogres. Now it lists Hafling, Ogre and Snotlings.

The Ogre Hall of Fame team Mountain Gut-Busters is the worst so far, having an actual TV of only 1490 (stated as being 1950). All other teams are between 1740 (Greenboyz actual value) to 2200 (Grudge Bearers actual value). Their team is 250TV below Goblins, ouch!

GW will no doubt be conscious they are fast approaching the full complement of currently (GW) official teams.

A cryptic Andy Hoare post around the Chaos Chosen release (Apr-May17) was later revealed to relate to the first roll of test Shambling Undead dice (Dec17)...so it seems likely GW have plotted the release slots and will be looking at what next.

There has been speculation about Chaos teams for each faction....but it would make sense to me to mix them up with other teams, and Snotlings hold a special place within the BB community.

I'm going to guess that we may also see a full hobgoblin team and perhaps another Dwarf alternative (perhaps a secret-weapons heavy iteration)

JT-Y has mentioned that they have plans past rereleasing all of the teams. He didn't state if it was new teams or what but they have plans of things to do after all current teams (barring the more fan styled teams that have been adopted) have come out.

I always thought we needed some new teams from this iteration to add something to the game. The my dug out teams didn't gain any traction, Hopefully there will be a good development phase on these too iron out the kinks. And by the nature of the tactics article authors we know they are talking to people who know their way around the game. So I am optimistic. And no one has yet speculated on what this snottling team will look like.

One suggestion I have heard was Trolls and Snots but with a lot of trolls I would expect it to be called "Trolls"

Some guesses for this team from me would be a mini death roller like option for the pump wagon, maybe some more squigs. and the snottlings same stat as gnoblars?

I would hope Snotlings are a bit different than Gnoblars, otherwise what's the point?
