I thought that OSPA was a good idea on paper but when in practice I realized that devastating combos are really fun!
I'd like to see more skills added and see nasty combos make a comeback of sorts. Granted som were just beardy but I still don't the trouble with a multi block+dauntless+frenzy+horns+block+tackle+mighty blow beastman. If you can build this guy then you should at least get to throw a couple of those before he ages and turns to crap.

I don't know what our league record was, but I had 11 dark elves die in a game once...pure 3rd ed. It was dwarves that did it to em. I rolled really bad dice, and he was rolling hi on injuries. that's all it took back then. he wasn't even really fouling after halftime.Skummy wrote:I'm sure that my league's record for most deaths caused in one game will not be equalled in the LRB. It was before my time in the group, but one player inflicted 6 deaths in a game.
I'm sure somebody in our league topped that, i'd have to ask around.
Overall, I think my optimal league would be a mix between 3rd and LRB.
Some things I love about LRB:
Star Player Rules
Big Guy/Ally Rules
Wizard Rules
IGMEOY
Skills vs. Traits
New winnings table (keeps bigger teams in check)
(in other words most of the important stuff)
Some things I don't:
Aging
No spp for foul/crowd
Skill changes (dt, pileon, frenzy, mightyblow, dp, etc)
forced pickups/handoff action
rule of 1/6 for ff
(in other words mostly nit-picky stuff)
For more in-depth argument about most of the stuff in the 2nd grouping, see other posts

I dunno what an Ospa is but I do know that I started playing BB in 3rd edition, quit after a month or two because the whole game seemed to consist of normal players fouling opponents and star players scoring TD's, but then less than a year ago I was introduced with LBR and started playing again.
In the last year I've played more games of Blood Bowl than all the GW games I played in the past 7 years put together (must be more than 25 so far, including the Dutch Open!
)

Re: OSPA????
One skill per action - i.e. if you used dodge you couldn't use block.WraithNeon wrote:OSPA?????

OSPA
One Skill Per Action
Now replaced with ESOPA (Each Skill Once Per Action)

So basically you can use several skills per player per turn, but never the same skill twice per player per turn? Sounds fair enough to me (if you gotta dodge 6 times in a row, you're doing something wrong anyway...)

You're right, that's the rule...
The "Dodging away for a blitz using dodge and block skills" example is very clear.

Well, if you used "Dodge" to reroll a failed dodge away from your opponent, you wouldn't be allowed to use "Block" on the block after that.

That's because there's absolutely nothing that makes more sense than Monty Python!!!!
The rule was introduced to limit the power of High TR teams, and of powerful skill combos.
Because of the large number of complaints it has been toned down to ESOPA (I think)

so let me get this straght. One skill per action. So I couldn't use accurate and strong arm togther. WHY WOULD I WANT STRONG ARM THEN. Also it means that while blocking the block roll happens. My guy has block theres don't. They fall down. Now I can't use pile on cause I used the block skill. The same thing with tackle. If I got the knockdown unless dodge roll and I have tackle. There down but now I can't use pileing because I used tackle. This si not making any sense to me
