Digger me old mate, in the immortal words of Mitch Hedberg, you are not the target audience. The market segment they're gunning for do not shop around and have an incredibly limited price memory owing largely to impulse purchasing behaviours and what I guess we can call 'churn' - because their stated target marked is kids around 13-16, their ideal customer will only realistically remember as far back as 36 months... yes, so you and I remember how much things cost 10 years ago, 15 years ago, whatever... their core customer base really doesn't.

Forgeworld, on the other hand, would seem to be aimed precisely at people in our demographic. Why they've not been tempted to put out a team is beyond me. Perhaps the human team and new star sculpts didn't sell too well? Perhaps they plan to in the future? Either way, it may be a blessing in disguise that they've not - if they were to, and based their models on the cyanide computer game, I think there's one independent FF miniature manufacturer in particular who can expect a very nasty letter landing on their doormat. I'm not going to name them - I think you'll know who I mean - but their flagrant approach to IP aside, I think they make some very nice products, and long may they continue to do so.

From what I've read on various other mini forums, for some strange arcane legal reason (that's beyond me), they'd have to license it (or something) from GW (even though GW owns FW), wich means it's not a goer.
I think one of the FW guys said somewhere that they'd like to do BB models (and other Specialist Games) but they were unable.

You'd have thought an annually renewable peppercorn lease would suffice, unless a ruling from the cyanide case gives them some sort of exclusivity deal.

Cheers for the heads up though, wasn't aware of that.

I suspect even if that rule was in place that Forgeworld would not bother with BB model for 2 reasons.

1. Forgeworld does tend to reflect the particular interests of the people who work there. That’s why we have 500 chimera variants as they have a lot of treadheads.

2. But saying that they are still a business and have been getting more commercial lately. So why bother spending the time and effort making a bloodbowl team that may sell dozens when they can churn out more heresy era marines that will sell hundreds and probably take less effort.

I can see the design meeting now.

New Forgeworld Employee – “I’ve spent the last 6 months completely updating the Bloodbowl range”
Other design staff – “Wow”, “Those are amazing and will revolutionise our outdated 3rd edition models”
GW Head Honcho – Hmmmm

GW beancounter – “Or we could release Marneus Calgar with a new hat”
GW Head Honch – Brilliant! Do that and the same for every other marine character we have.

Just a minor point of order here, I worked for GW for 5 years in retail and did a lot of work for Fanatic as well. Then I left and went to Morrisons for 5 years (UK supermarket).

Morrisons was a shit employer who told me off for getting the missus to phone in for me when I was in a hospital bed, and refused me holiday for my wedding, amongst many, many other annoying little gems.
Aweful, aweful employers.

GW were worse.

Sounds like Morrisons is about as good of an employer as Wal-MArt.

I wouldn't dream of going in to it, not here.

Probably worse. Asda (another UK supermarket) is owned by Wal-Mart, and they have a pretty decent reputation for staff care in comparrison.
