Sadly, yes. And not just because of the minis. It actually becomes necessary quite often. Most of the time your guys who are protecting the goblin will fail bonehead roll and leave him wide open. Very often it becomes necessary to run over to the blitzer for a last chance toss at the end zone.Relborn wrote:Is the Throw Teammates and the goblins in the ogre roster really necessary ? Would look much better without to me. You might add 2 more blockers instead

Well the web site for submitting to Fanatic said that I need to have pics with the article. Pics of the models, the models in action etc etc.
So, since I don't own more than 2 ogres and I don't have digicam I need pretty much anything you got. If you have some of them on the pitch that would be great. Ya know, some action shots!

Wow!
Glad to see this is going well and people are enjoying the Ogre team, as for the 'power' of the team, well.. It's always better to er on the side of caution and make a weak time rather than an overpowering team.
Pariah, if you need a help with the article, lemme know

If I could just jump in, and if it's not too late, I'd like to suggest a kicker slot to add to the roster, aviable when using the Field Goals rules. How about:
Qty...Position......Mv St Ag Av..Skills & Traits ...................................... Cost.....Skills
0-1 Ogre Kicker....5..4...2...8...Big Guy, Bone Head,Thick Skull, Kick 120,000 ST, Kk
Do you think it would fit?

Sorry Pariah, but your answer explains anything to me ... Maybe I should ask differently:Pariah wrote:Sadly, yes. And not just because of the minis. It actually becomes necessary quite often. Why can't an Ogre Team not just consist of Ogres ? The whole Throw Team Mate Aspect belongs to Mixed Teams and Star Players to me ...

Probabely to make them at least remotely competitive.
Pariah meant that, due to Bonehead, the team is quite vulnerable. If you play them well, one in six turns you won't have a block against you, one in six turns they won't pick up the ball, or throw it, or hand it off, or throw a team mate, or kill your only line man that still was next to them or ...
I think that gives them an extremely funny 'air' but makes them probabely just as bad.
And besides, who else would mind playing together in a team with a bunch of mindless and silly big lumps of muscle and emptiness

Goblins were introduced for a few reasons. One was the available minatures, secondly the 'historical' reasons of goblins being mention in Ogre teams in a few places and thirdly, so the team actually has a form of offense rather than being completely offensive
(bad attempt at a joke there).
You do have the option of establishing a full Ogre team if required however, so the choice is yours

Ithilkir missed out a 4th and 5th reason reason.
4) Due to the cost of even the cheapest Orge, the gobbos are necessary to allow a little leeway in the team make up.
5) Someone's got to be able to pick the ball up

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Ok, for those of you who've not got access to BB Mag #6 yet, here's the experimental Fanatic Orge team roster:-
0-8 Orges 120k 5/5/2/9 Mighty Blow, Thick Skull, Bone Head, Throw team Mate
0-8 Goblins 40k 6/2/3/7 Dodge, Stunty, Right Stuff
Re-rolls 70k
Notice lack of Big Guy on the Orges. Typo or not? Who knows until we get official word!
I know which one I prefer
