The wording of WA indicates that if he's standing next to an opponent he must throw a block/blitz. It doesn't say he has to blitz the guy he's next to, though I agree that's probably the spirit of the rules, so BT is a great skill for getting away to blitz someone else.

And I say the reason Mino's get horns is because mino models (BBand WFB) have always had them.

Got those tactics from a recent thread here (can't remember which). It was quite a long thread about WA though.

No I meant you charge a mino at a cage (ie he was free and clear).

So a cage is

Code: Select all

X.X
.X.
X.X
If you had Break Tackle on a Mino it would be a 4+ Dodge to hit the ST 3 X in the middle with a 2 dice hit ... ie Horns would matter, but in a normal game ... Horns on a Mino are worthless.

Gotta disagree and go OT into a Tactics and Team Development discussion here.

On my Norse team my Mino was my running back. I started him back from the line, on my first turn he usually didn't move and would just receive a hand off. On my second turn my opponent's big guy had usually knocked down the middle lineman and horns would allow my Mino to blitz right up the freakin middle with 2 dice! After I had penetration break tackle let him get through any TZ around. I'd pull up any linemen I could to form a loose cage, or just keep my opponent from making me roll defenders choice next turn. Badda bing. On good drive that mino would pick up 5 to 7 SPP's!

Disreguardless of if they need horns, they should have them. They are not that expensive, and can prove usefull when blitzing the big guys. If you are going for optimal setup on your big guy, then everyone would have an oger.

Gaa....can't stop. Regardless. Just regardless, not irregardless, disregardless, unregardless, or anything-regardless. Regardless covers it all. It can mean in spite of or despite everything/anything.

Sorry. Spelling I can overlook. That freaked me out.

Yes it does
In addition, if a standing Wild Animal is adjacent to a standing player from the opposing team then they must take a Block or Blitz action, and throw a block at an adjacent player.
"and throw a block at an adjacent player" means he must hit a player standing next to him at the beginning of the turn. Whether the tactic put forward by Galak in the thread you mentioned is valid is not the same thing. You must come back and hit at least one of the players you were originally standing next to.

OK, my bad.

Another tactic discussed was to give your WA Stand Firm, and f you could afford to waste the blitz action, call the blitz on an adjacent player, dodge out, and if you failed the dodge roll you just stood there.

BINGO! And they never expect it.
I used to throw wood elf catchers with treemen too. :)

you only had to get them 2 squares forward to give them a shot at a 1-turn score (1 if they had sprint)

I also had a wood elf liner get -st a long time ago...instead of firing him I gave him right stuff. I never actually scored with him that way, but I did put a few grey hairs on opposing coaches...and had nothing to lose anyway, if the guy died big deal! :)

Sure, he's still standing. You also didn't throw the block so it's an illegal proceedure. Simple.

Not according to the list on P.8 or the WA text.

As I said, not my ideas. I get round WA by PO, and wait for the inevitable foul.
