Pariah, i agree with everything you said in there, except for the wood elves. But i find this rather curious:
For the record, after my troll got -1ST from aging, i bought a minotaur to replace him (in hope he might get a mutation). I've only played one game with him so far, so we'll see how it goes.
Everytime i come in here saying that it makes more sense for chaos dwarves to buy trolls (they're less of a liability), somebody answers that they should rather buy a minotaur because it fits the fluff better. I find that trolls fit chaos dwarf fluff perfectly, as they can be viewed as slaves, but people on this forum don't seem to agree. But you're the first one i hear saying that chaos dwarves should not have minotaurs!Pariah wrote:and Chaos Dwarfs should get trolls only

i say that because the average Av of High Elves and Dark Elves is 8. AG 4, ST 3 and AV 8 is a pretty powerful team. They don't need an ogre to compete with other big guy enabled teams.
Zombie, in all truth I think Chaos Dwarfs should have a "raise dead" abilty. I think they should call it "slavery" and say that since the spirits of the slaves are broken they all have the same stats. (Give them zombie stats or maybe skeletons) As for Minotaurs? They don't need them now that they get 2 Bull Centaurs. The troll should fill their big guy needs adequetely enough...but minos can be fun. Enjoy yours!
Basically I'm just tired of every team having an ogre. It's boring. Orcs definitely don't need them and they aren't in the orc WHFB list so why are they there? Humans, Amazons...and maybe Halflings should be the only ones with Ogres. Chaos ogres probably wouldn't bother me too much but personally I'd take a Mino on a Chaos team.

So the fact that Wood Elves movement is one higher is ignored?
You are then saying that the movment stat is worth less than the armor stat, which is not how I see it. All stats are of equal worth. All three elf teams have the same number of stat points. It is just that the wood elves get one less aromr and one more movment, making them the only elf team that can score in one turn. Wood elves are also the most powerfull elf team, currently. They get the same number of positional players as the others, and a big guy.

the stats aren't of equal worth, it totally depends on the context of which they have the stats
what would a mummy rather have an extra +st or +ag
the fact you have to put 3 players on the line of scrimmage is where av is more important, movement doesn't help squat if someone is hitting you on their turn

Having a big guy does not stop this from happining. You still have to put 2 elves on the line. And, they will get splated, and the treeman will be dodged away from, usualy.
But, then on your turn, you movement give you the advantage. So temporary advantage to the side whos turn it is. Net gain zero.
No team needs big guys.

I would agree that Wood Elves don't need a treeman. As for the stats it is fairly common on BB players that the faster ones have a lower AV, compare Skaven to Humans for an example but it does depend on the team though.
I wouldn't swap another AV for MA on a Wood Elf team, would be very painful

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

I rarely put my Big Guy on the LoS when being hit, I usually put him one space behind, challenging the opponents LoS players to follow up on their blocks
Big Guys on the LoS are just begging to be blocked either by other Big Guys or by players with loads of assists, and then to be fouled after that.
(Right, Dave
