It's not a matter of being seen, its a matter of if the ref has the nervre to step in front of the machine and tell the maniac dwarf to leave the field
Anyway, on the topic at hand, I personally think my team is better off without a Deathroller OR an Ogre. i have been burned too many times with an Ogre standing there doing nothing when I really needed a player to do something. I would rather have a Longbeard any day.
The exception to this is the rare occasion when I get to play a squishy team, like gobbo's or flings. But how often do you think that happens

Personally I do disagree you Zombi, and think that big guys have nothing lost in dwarven teams.
I admit that my opinion is based soley on the background infos/stories around the dwarven teams from the Bloodbowl-World.
From the balance point of view, and of course I think that dwarves should be compensated if they ever couldn't take a big guy (like with a larger selection of secret weapons, would fit very much if you could the Dwarf Warhammerers)
Do dwarfs have a place in the fluff of a Dwarf Blood Bowl team? well, not really. I still bought one for my team after my game last níght. Why? because I didn't really have anything better to spend the cash on and I play in a division wher all three of the other teams have a big guy (two minos and a tree on Norse, CD and Wood Elf teams.) Oh, and I like the model.
But if take away the Ogre from dwarfs you had better be taking away Treemen from anyone except halflings, Trolls from anyone except Goblins, and Ogres and minotaurs should have places on the Chaos team at the expense of Chaos Warriors. (Want an ogre? fine. You can only have 3 warriors then. Possibly extend Minotaurs to the Norse team seeing as they're effectively Chaos Marauders these days anyway, at the cost of Blitzers.)
Call me biased because dwarfs are my favoured team. I could care less. There are plenty of teams with AG4 or ST4 on roster, and 2 players with dauntless do NOT make up for that.
Secret weapons don't either. Especially not with the confiscation rules JKL proposed. I love the idea of having as many as you like on roster, with only Goblins being crazy enough to try and get away with more than one at a time on field. I would like to see SWs priced and bought with a lineman who will always be the custodian of said weapon.
Still, these are arguments I've made before.

Had to quote that before you edit it away. :lol
GAHHHHHHH!.
I mean Ogres of course. Won't edit it. I'm tired after work, fighting off the beginnings of a cold, and in a rush because the Ic hockey team I follow (Leksand if that means anything to a Finn) are playing on TV in about three minutes.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.
I still don't have #3...and if anybody says to use mail order I will kill them!
I swear I will! Right now I'm drunk, Irish, and listening to Floggin Molly! Watch yerself mista!
In our league the Dwarf team cannot have an Ogre, instead they can buy the Deathroller as a special team player (same stats as the star player, and gains no SPPs). Additonally the Dwarf team can hire one Longbeard with a secret weapon (similar to the rules back in BB compendium 2 or whatever).
These two things keep the fuss at a minimum and make the dwarves more fluffy.
Although, when it comes down to it, the Dwarves do not need a ST 5 or more player to compete; they start with 2 Trollslayers (Dauntless) and all their Longbeards can get Guard as their first skill, these two things make them much more fearsome then any Ogre.
Have to say I'm against Orges in Dwarf for fluff reasons, and with 2 dauntless players on the starting roster, I don't think they need them.
As for secret weapons, I think Dwarfs should have access to them, and as the keepers of the books of Roze-el (or whoever) should have a modfier to the roll to see if their sent-off (-1 or -2 to roll?)

I agree with both mestari and Darkson.
I don't really like the ogres for dwarfs but the troll slayers don't make up for big guys. For one you only get the dauntless roll if you attack. If not you clobbered lika any other player and on top of that they are AV8 (which isn't bad but for a dwarf it's low).
No I think they should have access to alot of secret weapons, an alchemist or a rune smith. I think a rune smith would help this team alot.
The death roller could make up for a big guy but it's fated to be a secret weapon, I think...and that's probably for the best. No, I think the best idea is a more powerful wizard for the team. Give the dwarfs the most powerful wizard in the game and give them resistance to magic.

If you correct Dwarfs to Ogres in the first line I completely agree with this. Especially on the confiscation rules.
