Foul Apparence could be a nice 2nd (simple) skill on a rotter.MattDakka wrote:- Rotters are not supposed nor expected to get more than 1 or 2 skills each, they are essentially fodder to place on the LOS, cheap foulers, screeners, and assisting players.
They are good with either Block, Wrestle (if you lack Tackle during the early development of your team and you face Blodgers) or Dirty Player, let Claw to your good players (Nurgle Warriors and Pestigors), you want to get the SPPs on them, not on Rotters because too many skills on a Rotter are generally wasted (remember that they have Decay, AV 8, no Regeneration, so they die quite often, if you stack SPPs on them you are building a house on quick sands) and if they get too expensive they can't fulfil anymore the fodder/fouler role properly.
Forget the funky mutations like Big Hand, Two Heads, Prehensile Tail on Rotters, they are not worth on them.
If a Rotter rolls a double, though, you could consider to take either Leader or Guard, especially if your team is young and you need a cheap Re-roll.

Tackle or Fend are better than Foul Appearance, anyway I suggest to have just 1 skill on a Rotter if possible.babass wrote:Foul Apparence could be a nice 2nd (simple) skill on a rotter.MattDakka wrote:- Rotters are not supposed nor expected to get more than 1 or 2 skills each, they are essentially fodder to place on the LOS, cheap foulers, screeners, and assisting players.

Re: Nurgle or Chaos?
I’m about 18 games in with a long term Nurgle team in my league. I’m a Tzeentch man, and therefore a likely apostate.
My experience so far:
Development is SLOW. I won my last league game vs Orcs 1-0. 8spp for the match, a classic Nurgle mark-‘n-suffocate win.
Rolling MVPs on Rotters is annoying – better to be in a pick MVP league.
One ball carrier is not enough, for redundancy, positioning and garbage SPP reasons. Get at least two Pestigors with Extra Arms and Sure Hands as fast as you can. Eventually you’ll be able to rely on the Warriors to mark up and hurt people, but the team is horrible offensively and thus very susceptible to Blitzes and Kickers. Being bogged in your own half against faster teams streaming into your backfield is persistent issue, especially as the side has no basic skills which puts useful skills like Tackle far down the development curve. Even if they don’t turn you over, moving the ball is very difficult and you may find yourself out of turns.
If you’re not worried about winning early, consider taking MB on the Warriors first. You’ll eat more rerolls but probably cause more CAS. Try and dodging and handing the ball to Warriors as well. It’s risky but if you can get the odd TD on one or two it will really help their development.
The beast is a beast. I try and use him as sparingly as possible, and never commit him until the opposition has made an attacking thrust.
Avoid playing against Lizardmen if you can help it. It’s a terrible matchup until you’re probably at 1900+ and have some Tackle.
Sometimes, dice. FA will do FA for game after game, then you’ll get a regression to the mean and your opponent just won’t get to block you. The lords of chaos are capricious.
As far as Chaos comparisons go the +1 MA & AG on Chaos Warriors is big. Chaos are a lot more versatile, less of a toolbox side so you can be lazier with positioning. MVP’s will never be wasted on a scrub player. Nurgle have a bunch of specialists, it can be tricky to position them correctly and therefore get the most out of them.
Nurgle are death. They’re always coming, it is just a matter of when – and they’re forever.
