The only ones that can enforce the rules are GW - the NAF can makes it's feeling known but at the end of the day it's got no power.

I expect they would be very grateful to have someone from the NAF make themselves available to consult on any proposed rules adjustments.

It would be much more productive to approach them in a spirit of openness than to wait for mistakes to be made. A split in the rules will help no one in the long run.

No, but it has a lot of influence. If the NAF won't make contact, a rules split looks inevitable, and the NAF will be complicit in that. Rather than whimper and whine that Cyanide don't get it, someone senior at the NAF should step up to the plate and defend the hobby. What better use of NAF time, what better cause to pay NAF membership fees for? In this case, defence means dialogue.

What makes you think someone from the NAF hasn't already? What makes you think someone from the NAF wasn't talking to them from the alpha testing of BB1?

Because I'm Alpha Testing BB2 and the NAF is silent.

Very happy to be involved - I exchanged emails with Freki previously, representing the NAF, and she did not mention anything about anything to do with BB2. I would love (for example) to have an advert in the documentation of the game explainging about tabletop.

This would be a good time for you or the NAF President to email her again and ask to be put under NDA so you can represent the NAF in discussions about CRP implementation.

Well, someone within the NAF told me they'd been involved since BB2 was announced, but they couldn't say more than that. Do Cyanide/Focus have a habit of telling those under NDA about the others who are under NDA?

I think if you were under NDA you couldn't say whether those under NDA were told about others NDA. Or maybe I'm under NDA and it's an elaborate double bluff.

Or maybe I'm unsure about my NDA so asking others about their NDA so I know what I can and can't say about my NDA.
Or maybe I'm also bluffing about my NDA to disguise my NDA....

Err..

And in all seriousness, when I was testing LE, I could obviously see who else was testing it (wouldn't be a multiplayer test if I couldn't) but there were at least 3 more individuals (1 NAF, 2 BBRC) that were involved in the testing that I wouldn't have known about just from the testing phase. They never announced all the people under NDA.
That's why I'm 99.9% certain that at least one person within the NAF has been in Cyanide/Focus's ear since BB2 was announced.

Whoever you are referring to appears to have contributed nothing whatsoever to the BB2 Alpha forums, where there has been lots of discussion about implementing the CRP. There are ex-NAF execs present but they say they cannot speak for the NAF currently. So the NAF clearly needs to do more and take its head out of the sand. I have illuminated the Bat-signal. There is now a job to be done.

And what makes you think they're not in contact directly, rather than using a forum?

I think you somewhat missed the point wal. The issue here is Cyanide are making a computer game, they have a release date. If they are changing any rules and someone from the NAF tells them they are bad rules or could be splitting the player base etc... it will make no difference.

However there was a good idea from sann in here, where he said cyanide could possibly help promote the TT side of things a little more or point people towards The NAF in some small way.
