Re: What balls?
I usually go team colours only .. I even go as far as to give the throwers of teams (at least, those that carry a ball) a ball in hands with tam colours of other teams ..

Re: What balls?
[quote="Dave" I allways paint one to go with a team once I've got it painted. My teams seem to play best when playing with their own balls[/quote]
I did this twice, but right after the tourney i went the ball was lost. because i forgot it somewhere or because my opponent packed it by mistake or whatever. So i thought i would not do it again because i know i will loose each and every custom ball i paint (sooner or later).
Now i ask my opponent if he has one, if yes we play with his ball, if not i take some bluetac and form kind of a ball with that. so i don't get afraid to loose it at the end of the game.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Interesting to read everyone's various takes on it.

Re: What balls?
We use several balls.
Lego Fish
Rat
Cat
Beer mug
brick
cheese
grenade
Lego Chick
'diamond'
skull
plus the 3 different blood balls.
We also use them as score markers after we have scored.
May make up a few balls to take to Eurobowl and if the player scores with it they can keep it.

Re: What balls?
i have about 10 of the old dungeon bowl spiky balls i use. tho lately i have been using the "brain ball" from one of the manufactorers(i forget who, it was a "freebie" i got from cominonix). its cool and i have it painted pink with a high gloss coat. does the trick...
i must have 40+ balls, be they balls from one of the boxed sets, a bunch that are the wacky types(see the above "brain". i also have a face, a chicken and a heart that is all stitched up) and i have just made a bunch of "throwaways" from greenstuff.

I've also gone down the one ball per team in team colours route. Here are most of them

Re: What balls?
I use the spiked ball that came with the 3rd edition. I like the idea of having a customized ball for each team but I have a large painting queue that I don't want to add to it.

Re: What balls?
Those are indeed great Neil!
Congrats!
Its funny how I've never really did pay that much attention to those.
I mean, I've been using the plastic ones from the boxed set (and they are painted), but never actually though of giving them a bit more attention, until a short while ago when I saw this thread (from fellow TFF'er raivan) viewtopic.php?f=23&t=37617&p=665119#p665119.
Apparently I've been missing a small (but very interesting) detail in my hobby!
Gonna start working on that right away.
