Hi Outcasttex

Once you have got a handle on the game I would very much recommend attending a tournament if you can (The Welsh open in Newport is in Feb 13 and is less then an hour from you). Tournaments are over 2 days (3 games a day) and are for every level of player, from the great to the awful

What you will find is a large group of people who know the game very well, you have a good laugh, it is very relaxed and they will freely give you tips and advice... Don't let the word "Tournament" put you off as everyone is very welcoming and it is the best way to get better at the game and meet some bloody nice guys who over time end up becoming friends.

Also read "most common mistakes newbies make" in general chat for more guidance :D

There are several regular tournies within 2 hours of your location. Gert Bowl in Bristol, Welsh Open in Newport, Cake and Crumb Bowl in Swindon/Westby area, ARBBL in Andover, Exiles Open (plus the awesome Speedbowl) near Bournemouth. Tournaments are great, you get to meet cool people and geeks, play silly drinking games, laugh at the drunk people in the corner and even play some top level Blood Bowl :)

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

In addition to all this 'top level bloodbowl' supposedly going onn, there also are some pretty decent tactics/strategy/team building websites on teh interwebz: such as http://bbtactics.com/ and http://www.plasmoids.dk/bbowl/LRB6Playbooks.htm. Check them out, I find them pretty usefull! :D

If you are just playing the basic rules with teams reset after each game then it may be easier to colour code the players.

There are plenty of places you can get 16-20 very cheap identical models from and just spray them different colours to represent different positions. This works great if you want to try out different teams without having to buy the models as it avoids confusing the other player if you use an Orc as a Chaos warrior for instance.

You can even get some square bases and glue chess pieces or something similar to those since they have a front and back. Or make simple card players, this has the added advantage that you can write the race, stats, position and skills on the card too.

Paper... does someone remember the "paper cube players"? Print, some cuts and folds as instructed, start game.
