Forget Dwarves, what do Norse need for balance

What they need is an AV8-solution of some kind. But AV8 on only the blitzers seems weird. It just doesn't make sense that these "barbarians" are among the most fragile players out there. If Troll Slayers can have AV8, why not Norse?
I think I'd prefer a solution that's not based on the "block for everybody" idea.

Slayers get the extra AV because in Blood Bowl AV is a combined Toughness & armor stat. And, quite frankly the wimpiest most girlydwarf Slayer out there is tougher than the bigest baddest human (Thrud excluded).

Blood Bowl is WFB Football, not Football with a bit of generic fantasy garbage thrown in!

I think one of the main reasons people (including me) fail to do well with norse in the long-term is that they dont change their play style as they increase TR... at lower TR norse can bash with them... but at 160-200 TR where every orc, beastman and others are loaded with block, at AV 7 they can no longer bash with the true bashers... As a result the team that starts 6-0 runs into a real bashy guard and mb / claw team.. they get nuked.

I'm quite well balanced actually... I almost never fall over...
and the team are damned hard as they are.... a powergamers team I'm told!
no need to add to perfection...
although cheaper re-rolls would be nice I think that would just be too much...

I voted for AV8 on the blitzers, but i think thats just wishfull thinking.
The team is fine as it is. 50k re-rolls would be nice but i dont really think they would make a huge difference game wise (Ask my this next time i fail my GFI and dont have a re-roll left). Ive used Norse in the last 2 BB tornies at Warhammer world and have found them to be fine. The Block on every player is a huge boost. Ive also used them in 2 leagues and had no trouble with them in this environment either. We had a mixed race league with equal numbers of speedy teams and basher team. As for the casualties question, i was causing an average of 3 per game (5 against Orcs in 1 game!
) and only taking an average of 1.5 against me (i think it was a gobbo team that caused the most kills in 1 game against me
).
In the end AV8 or 50k re-rolls would be great, but id say leave them be.

As with the dwarves, it's hard to think of a way to retain their uniqueness while making them decent in the long run. Lowering the RR cost should help a bit, but one option could be to trade Block for AV8 for the linemen. I'm not so fond of that idea, but AV8 would be quite essential for the long-term development, I suppose.

Relatively wide base and a low centre of gravity go a long way for staying upright, I guess...Norse wrote:I'm quite well balanced actually... I almost never fall over...
