And the same excuse used for the lack of updates on the NAFC thread?

The front page could have been arranged in advance, and gone "live" over the weekend, Lycos has said as much. And it's not a Bank Holiday everywhere around the world - the Netherlands for example, where both Dave and mepmuff are (though I think Dave was here over the weekend?).

Seriously, we've heard all these excuses before - I used to stick up for the NAF on them, but time an time again, simple things haven't happened. Look at the amount of information that was put into this forum that wasn't on the NAF forum. If the staff are so busy that they can only update one thread( ), then surely it should be the NAFs own forum and website that gets the attention. It's hardly a show of competence when you have to come to a different forum to find out about an organization's "flagship" event.

How dare you use common sense in this matter......

+1 to all you said BTW, I actually like the new dice, the 5 / 2 issue is only a problem if you glance at the dice (or your a maths teacher who doesn't know which way 5s and 2s face.....sorry sann's!!)

Also this year I got more dice for my dollars so to speak, so better value IMHO.

Block dice are easily sourced from other locations if you don't want the ones still available from the NAF.

Maybe this is another " it's change, we don't like it" situation......

I think both we're at the NAFC? Maybe the NAFC thread was being updated because everyone was at the NAFC?

Slight aside, they were both in Nottingham this weekend.

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

And attending 2-3 tournies a year still justifies renewing NAF membership as if it anything like in the UK if you are not NAF registered and enter a tournament you pay an extra £5 for not being registered and that pays for a years membership :)
I have never been to a tournament in the US that gives a discount for NAF members. Most of us are members and you very quickly learn who everyone is because it's mostly the same people at each tournament; dice, rankings, and a sense of supporting the larger community are our incentive to join.
Yep, same in Australia, I'm close to 100% sure that there has never been an Australian tournament that has offered discounted ticket prices to NAF members. The vast majority of people that play at the tournament I run are NAF registered. Not all of them re-new their membership every year, but I'd say at least 2/3rds do.

Oly1987 wrote:I think if people are going t not renew purely because they aren't getting block dice then it just shows how fickle they are. The naf is more than just block dice. They put a lot of effort into making sure tournaments are well organised and the results and rankings are kept up to date.
Not around here.

None of the tournaments I attend are NAF run, or even NAF sponsored. I don't really care about the work they do maintaining an online database of tournament results. I might pay $1 a year for that, not $15.

The block dice were why I paid money each year.

That's almost true but not quite. The BB organisers at MOAB one year gave a $15 discount to people who were NAF registered. However, if you weren't registered, the extra $15 price included NAF registration. It really wasn't a discount as such, just a way of forcing people to register. Despite being registered myself, I'm glad they discontinued the practice. It stopped several years ago iirc.

Is there somewhere on the net we can see these new dice? I have searched some in NAF site and hear and only get references to the 2 and 5 without any visuals.

I just spent idle minutes of my life catching up on a thread I'd normally have no interest in.... My overwhelming problem with NAF still remains: they can not get their blunt, neutered balls out of greedy w@nker's puckered purse... even after this!!!

Masochistic Quislings could never represent my interests in the game....

I disagree - NAF loses nothing by maintaining a relationship with GW and there is no point in burning bridges. Who knows what GW's policy will be in 6 months, a year or 5? By keeping the status quo NAF is ideally placed to move straight back into a position of influence. Severing all ties would simply remove that possibility forever.
