Hi Shteve0, MattDakka and all,

Shteve0 - I didn't mean to say that you were starting to talk stats, but if you read back then others were. I just thought, oh no, it's turning into that thread. But never mind.

I didn't get what you were saying with those lovely Banana Biscuits.
My thinking is that we're stuck with the statlines, and we have limited options when adjusting the fluff. I think puny 6337 bloodletters was one of the things that got the roster hated. And I don't think just calling them 0-4 Daemons (as Spubbbba(?) suggested) will solve it - because people will need models, not just abstract statlines. In short, I don't think we'll get closer to anyone's fluff-sense with Banana Biscuits

As for the furies, I know they're not an ideal fit. What is?
I strongly disagree that the team has to have Bloodletters. I don't think anything fits at all.
Thinking about it, nothing in the sacred 2nd ed. fluff has anything concrete on Khorne teams. With nothing in 2nd ed., we turn to Warhammer fluff, and apart from some BB players loving fluff from when they were teens themselves I don't see any sense in lining up with outdated fluff. So I don't see what prevents furies from being the daemons here.

In fact, sod the daemon theme.
The Nurgle Team was based on Nurgle's Rotters from BB fluff.
The Khorne Team could be based on Khorne's Killers.
Linemen, Furies, Khorngors, Daemon Prince. Sod bloodletters, herads, bloodthirsters, Khorne Juggers and whatnot.

Cheers
Martin

Furies don't have horns. The 0-4 players in question have regen and horns; they even have 'juggernaut', a fairly amusing reference to the BB fluff, presumably. How could they be anything but Bloodletters? I appreciate that some people expect them to be ST5 or whatever, but they're being asked to use a little imagination here and suspend that preconception for the same of game practicality. Ditto the bloodthirster, though I'm slightly perturbed that the wings don't play a part, and so imagine a Daemon prince/lord.

Heralds, on the other hand, don't have regen. Why not? I don't imagine it's an oversight on the Cyanide Three's part, they must have had a logic behind it. Specifically, I'm aware of course of Galak's work on teams previously and I'd speculate that there's a very firm design reason for this beyond the mechanics. So, I guess I'd be interested to hear specifically from them what they would have called this position (and the other positionals too, for that matter) and what they had in mind when designing it.

Personally, I'm modelling with the idea of human linemen, "chosen" humans with horns and brute strength as heralds, bloodletters (they sure as sh*t look ST3...) as the lesser daemons and a larger daemon as the big guy. As such that makes a minimum of three ways that heralds have been interpreted by community members: (1) bloodletters with Frenzy, +AV and no Regen; (2) beastmen with Frenzy/Juggs; (3) pit fighters with Horns/Juggs. I'd therefore be most curious as to how the panel imagined them and what names they would give each of the position if the [player and roster naming] restrictions weren't in place.

Or more pertinent, what "handcuffs" GW put on them while designing the team.

Come, now - any NDA worth its salt will prohibit that.

That was a subtle hint.

I think everybody's right. Now let's all put daisies in our hair and join hands and dance in a circle.

So what your saying is you think the Khorne team should be 8/1/5/6 Fend, dodge, sidestep, Fair (foul) appearance, regenerate, thick skull.
