I think the use of the word "until" there is being pretty optimistic. I'm willing to put money down on no such rulebook update within the next 5 years.Tim wrote: C) The future
I still think the current state will be an intermediate solution until GW publishes LRB6 as THE new printed rulebook. It's easy money for them as books are easy to produce and costs scale well with sales figures. Plus a new rulebook adresses every Blood Bowl player, so the sales potential is quite high (compared to a new miniature).

I don't WANT to have to ban them...but if Galak is getting legal heat, and there's a chance they'll come after TFF (again) it has to be done.

Tom, I apologize for the baseless crap you are taking from GW and will be silent on the issue after this post at your request. I don't want to see you hassled over this.GalakStarscraper wrote:But ask yourself this ... if you guys all run off and start posting versions of LRB 6.0 that you've created or gotten from a friend or who cares where ... GW's first stop will be me for YOUR actions.
Just remember, even though you may think what you are doing is the best thing for BB by being compliant well beyond reasonable means, it may not be the best for BB and more importantly you. I think this is very much an abusive relationship you are in, and I know it is hard to see through this, but I wish you all the best.
From hence forth, quietly supporting you...

Re: LRB 6.0 has landed!!!
Hi guys,
I won't hide the fact that I'm a little disappointed that the full LRB6 that was signed off by the BBRC and then lovingly prepared for distribution by Tom has been rather heavily edited. And disappointed that it's led to a fair few folk here scratching their heads.
It would "appear" to all here that a new LRB (perhaps changed to "BBRB" to signify that it was locked and therefore not "living" anymore) may have been an easier solution than chopping out the fluff, DYKs, pictures et al.
HOWEVER, the new rules ARE the LRB6 in their entirety as agreed by the BBRC and not amended one jot by GW. Not one jot. People have totally lost sight of that. And any input errors (like the rat-ogre - which was the BBRC's fault, not GW's) should be amended in the very near future.
As some here have pointed out, a rulebook IS available in the boxset and there are issues with having a version in the box that doesn't match the version online. There HAS to be rules in the box so until GW can create a bound replacement to go in the box (or release a new boxed set), the "Competition Rules" are a further optional ruleset like the second half of the rules in the box and, importantly, all the previous LRBs. GW are hosting it so they haven't got a problem with it and they aren't out to spoil everyone's fun.
As for the document itself, the page numbers (and I haven't checked this) look like an attempt to cross reference. Perhaps I'd change the intro to not make out that those using these rules are "cut-throat" rules-lawyers, but I do think people are getting over-excited here.
Furthermore, many have suggested that the work of the BBRC should be credited. Whilst a little bit of ego would like to see my name in the book, I can live without it and can see why it's be reined back to GW control. So if I'm not upset about it, can the rest of you stop getting upset for me?
Perhaps the future will see a new version of the game with a new rulebook. Perhaps the recent success of SpaceHulk has got the powers thinking they could do the same with Bloodbowl - which is why the situation, and the model for a LRB, may have changed since LRB5's release. Or perhaps the online community just have to get used to the fact that GW aren't going to be supporting BB anytime soon, they've had to do this to support the boxed version of the game and they have released the full "competition" rules as best they can presently.
I have absolutely no knowledge either way - but I'm always wary of being critical of others when I am in possession of only some of the facts.

Okay ... let me put this another way.
GW gave permission for LRB 5.0+ to be posted. There was no NDA issues with that document. So rather than post fake LRB 6.0s that MIGHT make GW legal ask questions at me even though I have NOTHING to do with any of those ... why not ask someone if they have an LRB 5.0+ PDF that you can get. Then take pencil and in 30 seconds you'll have LRB 6.0 (since the changes were that small). You'll have a credits section ... you'll have artwork and Did You Knows. The difference between LRB 5.0+ which was approved for release and fake LRB 6.0s is night and day. And I'd have a much better Christmas week with a lot less stress. There are hundreds of copies of LRB 5.0+ out there ... stick with that. I'm NOT asking you to post LRB 5.0+ to anywhere on the Net. But I'm sure if you need one and asked someone in the community could hook you up (Not me ... remember I had to get rid of all of those documents). But a pencil, 30 seconds and an LRB 5.0+ printout and you'll have an LRB 6.0 that doesn't raise your blood-pressure and doens't cause me any grief.
That's really what I need folks to realize. Any LRB 6.0 has been declared by GW Legal to be a bad thing ... let's run with that if it keeps GW legal off my back and off TFF's back. LRB 5.0+ was a playtest document provided to the community for over a year to get ready for LRB 6.0. It isn't a "bad thing". So still with the good here. Yes rebellion is fun and feels good ... but its not going to accomplish anything real ... and its so darn easy to get a nice version of the new rules with just a few penciled in items ... I just want folks to focus on that.
Tom

Galak, Geggster, you are both absolutely correct. I have taken the time to take a step back, breath deeply and to be thankful that LRB 6 was made available.

Re: LRB 6.0 has landed!!!
Same here, i have thinked about this move from GW, and hope its becouse of some future re-release of blood bowl (space hulk style!).
The LRB6 rules are here, not as fancy as they should have been, but they are here.
So remember that sitting with friends, moving small dolls and rolling some dice, still is the same, ie. the playing experience is the same, even if the rules dont look that fancy and stylish anymore.5
Not saying that i like ANYTHING about this move GW have done, just that im now don't really care about them anymore, they screwed the community, they will do it again, and again so why put yourself in the position to be kicked by worring about it.

Re: LRB 6.0 has landed!!!
At the moment, I feel much the same way. Of course, it won't matter to GW as it won't change my buying habits from them in any way (ie. I haven't bought anything from GW in years anyway--just not that into their other games, and like many have mentioned, I have the BBowl teams I want/need now, no reason to buy more).Skipper wrote: I may be done with blood bowl now, even though I love what it was becoming. And to think I put money into 8+ different teams. I guess I'm back to painting my 6mm armies for a while until this settles out and I like the out come.
If this sounds like sour grapes, its because it is. I had high hopes this version of the game would take off and it would resurface bright and shiney to attract new players.
Still, I'm very sad to see so much work over the years by Tom and others get dismissed so bluntly.
You know, the last time I remember a gaming company doing the C&D stuff and alienating alot of their fan base was TSR--right before they got sold off. Maybe this is GW getting positioned to sell...they might need their IP in good order for purchasing

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who plays Blood Bowl. Thanks for all the BBRC members who put all the hard work into the new rule set. And thanks Jervis for creating a game that so many people are this passionate about. Merry Christmas everyone!

I can't get to the GW site through my filter at the moment, but what is the official status of the "experimental" teams?
Is there a place where those teams are to be posted? Are they in the competition pack? Will GW allow those rules to be posted anywhere?
Just wondering. Glad to have 6.0 - just had a few questions.
