Currently running a seven man league in Glasgow (Facebook, OBBLM) with home and away games scheduled. Spread over four months or so, this is 12 matches each, one a week, with room for a bit of slippage.
Only a few games into our second season, but working well so far. Certainly seems better than our first which had more, less reliable coaches.

Hi, we have had some new staters that has never played before so we have had a few test games since starting this thread.

We are hoping to start this Friday!

I wanted to add a little of our own league-experience (Frankfurt, Germany) to this topic. Since most of our guys have only a small amount oft time, we organise the league never to have more than five or six games per season. This doesn't stretch the season to long and gives rookies the chance to join in the next one sooner than later.

We started out with four players and are ten now.

We also started with a 4-6 player league. We could add as many teams as we wanted, so if one person played more than the others, they still had a team with a ranking with those that played less often.
These days, we have 4-8 more active players and a few who play once every few months.

I think you should look at the wishes of the players and find the best middle ground.
