Blood Bowl Madness...

Post by Smurf »

Do you play enough Blood Bowl if no read on!

Bored with a couple of games per sitting. You know you can't play it every day.

Then play blood bowl doubles!

It helps new teams get up to speed.

You will need 2 pitches and assorted extras.
2 teams and sheets.

1 or 2 opponents and play 2 Blood Bowl games at the same time. You can easily play 4 games within 6 hours!

I tried it and felt great, my mate tried it and he felt great too. Hopefully we will both be feeling great on Thursday night. Another friend is yet to try it and he may feel great as well.

If everything goes to plan the 3 of us can play 6 games in about 6 hours! How cool is that!

:o

Been there, done that, got told (by my club mates) I wasn't allowed to do it again, as I beat them to easy (personally, I still say it was the dice, but I'll take wins were I can!).

how does it come that playing several games in the same time makes you play better ?

Probably because I stopped over thinking things.
I just don't think they liked the fact that they both lost to me. ;)

I just like the flurry. The tempo is just right. I can't stand it when some guy is taking about 10mins per turn.

It falls down when skills start impacting on the basic team. Line with: block, wrestle, fend, sidestep, standfirm etc.

You also need good trust that both of you will play honestly.

But until the teams have skills that affect play to much then it's fun to play mad games.

Yep, not new to me.
I played two round one matches at the same time at Thrudball 2012. Won one, lost the other. Though the loss was to Joemanji, so I was expecting it, and the person I was playing in lieu of said the result was better than he could have done, so happy days :)

Gav's partner dropped out at the Cambridge doubles tournament in 2011, so he just played day two as both players.

(If you where wondering, his own Goblin team went 2/0/1 on day two and his 'partners' Humans went unbeaten on 2/1/0!!)

Have thought about 2 games simultaneously in the past but figured it'd be too irritating to play.

Imagine that one of your opponents would have to sit and wait on many occasions while you took your turn on the other board? Also there would have to be complete trust in fairness as it would be impossible to watch both oppoents take their turn.

Whilst playing on one pitch, a couple of key players suffer injuries on the other. It happens often, but is more suspicious when you're not watching!

Yeah it's one of those games where you have to trust each other.

My philosphy is it's just a game, I do my best come win or lose.

Lost to goblins on a blitz, could not pick up the ball and caused my opponent 8 cas including both trolls. IIRC he had 2 players on the pitch but my new CD team could not move that ball for love nor money. I wasn't going to grumble with 8 cas though. He was playing the doubles game then.

we were at Lutece a couple of years ago with a BUBBLE team and we played five games, simultaniously, the saturday evening .. five players, five boards, two games each .. that was a lot of fun.

I've seen Jelmer play 6 games in a 3 round tournament once .. he was knackered afterwards

I did 2 games at once verses 2 other opponents. To keep the game flowing, they did most of the legwork (killoff tables, scattering balls, ect) as I played the other bored. I agree you need both people you trust and I was tired afterward.

we use it at our league to cope with uneven numbers. We assume the opponent who hasn't got an opponent for a moment (nice rhyme) just plays his turn.

Sometimes this means you meet a gloating face when you return to your shredded squad .. sometimes you hear something the likes of: "NUFFLE YOU @#$%" and then I allways deliberately wait for a bit longer to rubb it in :smoking:
