Man O'War game...

Post by JohnBark »

Has anyone ever thought about creating a Man O'War game on the internet like Blood Bowl has? I used to play that years ago. And I was wondering if creating a Man O'War PBeM tool was ever thougth about doing/developing?

Thanks!

:D

trouble is, BB uses clearly defined squares and is easier to code

man o war allowed movement in many different directions which (as far as my limited knowledge of programming goes) would be more difficult to code

I agree tho - I'd like to play it again! I loved those dwarf nautiluses!!

endless hex grid

Post by JohnBark »

true movement was in any direction. however, you could use an endless board with blank (or blue to represent the sea) hex grid. that would solve the movement problem.

i thought it was due to lack of interest as to why there was no Man O'War internet PBeM tool/type game. i'm positive it could be done. if i had the computer programming knowledge, i would attempt it myself. however, i'm just a user of technology and not a developer of it yet.

:)

although not quite as popular as BB there are many fan sites for man o war. nothing as remotely organised as this though.... BB is for TRUE fans!

Yeah but there's plenty of Age of Sail type things out there...or fun things like Overboard(?) of a few years ago. If you want to play a nautical battle game on a pc, why on earth would you go a hex route? Don't get me wrong, I adore the game and still have a few fleets and all the monsters etc. I just don't think that a PC/Man'OWar crossover is working to the strength of either, and don't think it'd work in the way that Space Hulk and BB do...

I believe so, although I think they are redoing it as a supplement to Warmaster.

That's what I'd heard, along with a second dupplement as a reworking of Mighty Empires.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".
