ah come on dont whine like a girl. Its just that star player thing is a really important part of my life, so i will continue to crusade for their return.
but now seriosly.
based on what i picked up on this board most people would like to see no stars at all in competitive blood bowl.
i was amazed to see stars "prmanent" in tourney rules. weren't u ?
well i think its good because stars simply are cool. (althoug it sucks that some teams are blessed with "good" stars while othes have none and so on)

Nope, they were included in the 2002 Blood Bowl tournament so it didn't surprise me at all to see them in the 2003 tournament.Toby wrote:but now seriosly.

For that matter, I plan to allow them in the 2003 Gen Con Blood Bowl tournament that I hopefully hosting in the states. I think they have a place in tournaments, but not as permanent parts of league teams.

Plus Toby ... I still haven't forgotten this comment.
Since these comments of yours in June of last year ... the 3 Blood Bowl magazines have sold out in the 1st week of issue and all the tickets for the Blood Bowl tournament (over 100) in the UK sold out in a couple days at 40 BPS a piece ... yup going to keel over any day now.
When I saw the thread I figured you were gearing up to go on again about how badly BB is broken and how it will die if it doesn't get fixed ... tried to head ya off at the pass in what I "thought" was a friendly manner ... if I failed ... sorry.

This was followed by later by a statement that if Blood Bowl didn't do the things you knew were out of balance that basically folks would stop playing.Galak, in order to keep Blood Bowl alive and played by more than the 5 people here on the Board, you need to sell it.
And bla it would if sell if bla,
additonally balance bla bla, competitiven play bla,
diffrent play modes bla bla, diffrent likings and preferences bla...

heh, been ages since I've seen someone irrationally flame someone else...
anyway, IMO, which I know is worth next to nothing, Star Players are fine for one-off games, OR TOURNAMENTS WHERE TEAMS RESET.
However, in league play I find it much more interesting to develop my own star players, giving them skills I have thought about and developing their character and personality as I go along. If, during a league, I created a player who ended up similar to Griff, for example, I'd get much more enjoyment, because I created him, grew attached to him etc. If he died in a match I'd be much more pi$$ed off than if Griff died - I can just re-hire Griff the next game!!
anyway, each to his own, if you don't enjoy creating your own star players that turn out better than the official ones, fine by me
no need to be rude though

But since most of the people on this board (especially one

I was surprised that the tickets were gone so fast
But thats a good news, I guess.

And how can we complain??
Tickets were sold out within hours, so obviously there were enough people more than willing to go (I know at least one of them personally
).

Indeed!Unless they decide to charge £80 next year!

But don't post more or this, please, or otherwise there might be some change next year...

Going back to the stars issue, I was happy to see the LRB change.
Our old 3rd edition league was dominated by stars playing for teams in a permanent way and these often overshadowed our own stars, especially in rookie teams. Not to mention that they also allowed additional position players.
I would be just as happy to see stars gone completely as it is much more exciting to develop your own (and it's amazing what a difference it has made playing in our new LRB league
) but this is a good compromise.
I'm trying not too be too cynical but I think stars allows GW to sell figs (and usually very good ones) and add abit of flavor to the game.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".
