We all played in such a league. That was how 3rd ed worked until a set of FAQ came out about a year later (1995) telling players that you can't combine skills for bonuses, and that was inadvertantly omitted in the rules. Sigurd's came not long after, and many versions of IGMEOY or a sliding scale. But from 94 to 95 (and much later for leagues that didn't adjust quickly), everyone was playing the way you describe. But the rules were changed for a reason, as fouling was way overpowered.BoB wrote:we once played a league with house rules not only enabling points for fouling injuries, but also cumulative bonuses on skills
ie if you had mighty blow and dirty player you got +3 to both armour and injury roles.
It was dam good fun, each team developed a specialist fouler and the object of the game became killing the opposing fouler before he killed everyone on your team.
We had to increase the amount of money won each game,
but we did gain the record of 21 fatalities in a match (that is dead, not Serious inj or bad hurt) Sure, the league wound up pretty shortly afterwards, fun for a laugh though.
We use fouls a lot in current games, as has been pointed out, if you finally make a war dancer fall down then you damn well want him to stay down! :x
