Pile On

I was tossing around some ideas in my house league about pile-on.
First: Make it a foul, you are hitting someone that is down.
Second: Make it a trait, a lame one, but GW did it for dauntless and jump up
Third: +2 to the amour roll instead of +Str

Looks like everyone liked #3.

Has anyone tried something similar to this? If so how did work out?
If not I'd love to hear opinions on this.

I think #3 really fixes a broken rule.

If it is going to be a trait i would like to see it at a +3. Not near as bad as the +5 big guys are getting with it now but still worth getting on a doubles roll. I also don't really want a penalty roll atached to it though an armour roll wouldn't be a bad idea.

Grumbledook: It would not be the same as claw, with claw you would remain standing.

It wasn't an issue in the past because there where no official rules for rookie big guys.

In my opinion it doesn't matter if you have to pile-on before or after the roll, it's still a joke with 5 STR players.

IMO the +ST is quite correct, think about it, if an Ogre lands on you it is going too hurt a hell of alot more than a gutter runner.

But definatley make iat a trait.

Don't agree with that at all, like many other things in BB it's a game mechanic not a representation of reality.

Sure being landed on by an Ogre would hurt more than by a halfling but so would being fouled by one, or being hit by a Black Orc.

IMO ST+2 is a reasonable solution, except for the conflict with Claw as Grumbledook mentioned, especially if you play as the LRB says with the choice after the dice roll.

My favorite solution is still making it an AV reroll that you have to go prone to use. Nice, simple, elegant, effective.

I'm fine with most solutions, but if we want +2 it could be done like this:

+2 if po:ers STR is higher than the victim,
+1 otherwise.

That means STR still matters, just not that much.

Its the rule used by Chet's league the NFL and its the rule being used by GW's Bugman's league in the UK. Don't like a lot of things going on with the Bugman's league ... but I do like the Piling On fix.

Guess I have heard it then.

The Bugmans league had so many ideas I didn't like I started skiming through it after a bit.

That's pretty good, and the first time i've seen it mentioned. I'm thinking though that maybe this makes it a little toothless compared to Mighty Blow.

Perhaps the modifiers could be +2 and +3 instead, meaning it still caps at +3 but is different enough to Mighty Blow to justify falling over.

Or maybe is could be ST higher or equal to the victim.

Penalty Roll for "Roughing".
On a Roll of 1, the player is sent off for the rest of the Drive.
You may argue the Call.
A turnover does NOT take place.

Which means you can set him up again after a Touchdown is scored.
None of the rules for "Fouling" Apply.

I like Galaks Idea alot. As it is now, the skill is an "uber-skill" and a must have in most tournaments.
In our league we houseruled piling on and force the piler to decide wether to go down before rolling the armour roll.
So far, this has shown to be a very reasonable solution, and PO isn't the only option for strength monsters; Still, combined with jump up (norse blitzer) it is a very nasty combo.

I like the idea of making it illegal really make people think about using it especially in the presence of a dirty player or two. Lots of good ideas on this one though. S.
