My issue is that 'zons are much more bash inclined than humans. For me it ought to be the other way around - passing/running ought to be more the female tactic than bash IMO.

So I think I'd give the 'zons the human catcher instead of their own and then remove the universal dodge from the rest of the team. The 6337 Dodge is just too bland and doesn't offer real variety. I'm not sure exactly what. Maybe make them more a 7337 standard stat line.

Humans get a S3 catcher and maybe gain a blocker position. I haven't really spent a lot of time thinking about it and there are lots of options that would work.

However, as Tom pointed out, this is a long way off (if ever).
Based on Ian's comments above, I would like to start a conversation on what the theoretical LRB7 Amazon and Human teams might look like.

So, with no further ado, here is my starting point for our Human discussion:

0-16 Linemen 50k 6338 G/ASP
0-2 Throwers 70k 6338 Pass, Sure Hands GP/AS
0-2 Catchers 80k 8337 Catch GA/SP
0-2 Blockers 80k 5339 Block GS/AP

0-2 Blitzers 90k 7338 Block GS/AP
0-1 Ogre 140k 5529 Loner, Bone-head, Mighty Blow, Thick Skull, Throw Team-mate S/GAP

I've based it on Ian's comments, Mighty Zug, and my own ideas about what might work.

What do you all think?

Thanks,

- Beholden.

Without an in-depth thought about it, the blockers above turn the human team into an orc team. If a blocker was included, I would think ST3 with +1AV and Wrestle.

Like I said. These are just quick thoughts.

I think a roster like that would make the team even more unattractive to coaches.

Human blocker, for me, would be 5339 GS-AP, maybe starting with Grab or Stand Firm. Maybe 5329 but definitely not S4.

I went ahead and updated the roster above to reflect the comment so far regarding the Blocker.

He is now 5339 Block instead on 5428. I gave hime Block because I've already reduced the number of blitzers on the team from 4 to 2 and I don't want to make the team less effective than they already are, just a little less speedy and a little more bashy.

Thanks,

Bashier humans would go along these lines in my mind:

0-16 linemen 6 3 3 8 50k G/ASP
0-4 blitzers 7 3 3 8 Block 90k GS/AP
0-2 catchers 8 3 3 7 Catch, Dodge 90k GA/SP
0-2 blockers 5 3 2 9 Grab, Tackle 80k GS/AP
0-2 throwers 6 3 3 8 SH, Pass 70k GP/AS
0-1 Ogre

That may be too good, but I suspect that with only 2 catchers and 2 blockers, the blitzers will really be called upon to flex between the playstyles, which should really be the human forte. I like it when teams start off too good, and then get brought back in line...

but that roster woulkd require no linemen in the long term

not sure I would ever be in favour

If I'm honest? Dump the Catcher completely* and make Blitzers more multipurpose and flashy (like they are supposed to be), removing strength access and giving them agility.

And give Blockers Wrestle and Tackle, with AV8. Just makes sense to me.

0-16 Linemen 6 3 3 8 50k G/ASP
0-4 Blitzers 7 3 3 8 Block 80k GA/AP
0-4 Blockers 5 3 2 8 Wrestle, Tackle 80k GS/AP
0-2 Throwers 6 3 3 8 Sure Hands, Pass 70k GP/AS
0-1 Ogre

* Yeah, I know, ruins the 'never make a model obselete' rule. But to be honest I don't like MA8 humans, doesn't seem right for them to keep up with Wood Elves.

Of course Humans are as fast as Wood Elves! They just normally choose to wear armour instead of running around all quick like. Sensible folk if you ask me. That's why all those wide receivers are considered a little daft in the head!

I assume that's because of the STR 3 catcher? The current human roster also allows 11 positionals, but 4 of them are STR 2 catchers. The current orc roster often ends up with only linemen in reserve as 13th or 14th men.

The Human style is based around a basic statline with a heavy use of skills to boost play. This can be bland on other teams (such as Amazons) but it has been the Human way since the beginning and in fact is their entire raison d'etre.

For that reason I believe Human blockers should not have AV 9.

Instead Thick Skull is a way of using a skill to describe a greater resilience. Other than that I would be happy to see 5328 or 5338 with blocking skills like Grab, Stand Firm, Guard or perhaps Tackle. Not Block, as that is the preserve of Blitzers IMO.

I would definitely NOT like to see the team lose 0-4 Blitzer access. Blitzers should also go to 80K IMO. They are clearly on a par with Orc Blitzers.

So without thinking it through too much, a good LRB5 Human team might look like this IMO:

0-16 Linemen _ 6338 _ (50K) G
0-2 Throwers _ 6338 _ Pass, Sure Hands (70K) GP
0-2 Blockers _ 5328 _ Grab, Tackle, Thick Skull (70K) GS
0-2 Catchers _ 7337 _ Catch, Dodge (80K) GA
0-2 Blitzers _ 7338 _ Block (80K) GS
0-1 Ogre _ etc
50K re-rolls

I would change the catchers. Instead of STR3, give them AG4 and remove dodge.

Now it's my turn

0-16 Linemen 6338 (50K) G
0-2 Throwers 6338 Pass, Sure Hands (70K) GP
0-4 Catchers 8337 Catch, Sure Feet (70K) GA
0-4 Blitzers 7338 Block (90K) GS
0-2 Kickers 6338 Kick (60K) G (or Kick, Hail Mary (70K) G)
0-1 Ogre
50K re-rolls
