Under The Knife

Ok Just for Fun as i seem a little creative this afternoon, have a laugh at this.

PS This is completely of the cuff, unplaytested and apologies if anything similar has been mentioned before.

Blood Bowl Coaches are continually faced more and more with the problem of more and more Niggling and serious injuries Clogging up their Team Roster, to the extent that they are now looking into the possiblities of employing Surgeons to tidy up after the crippling effects of a couple of mighty blows on their most valuable players.

Once immediately after the game each Surgeon can put the player of the coaches choice under the knife in an attempt to cure the Niggling/Serious Injury caused during the game.

to represent his success roll 1 D6

1: The Surgeon accidentally cuts through one of his patients, major arteries, within seconds the player has bled to death, and must be removed permanantly from the Team Roster.

2: Try as he might the Surgeon cannot fix the problem, in fact his meddling has created another problem and the player must make another roll on the injury table. :(
3: All the Surgeons probing comes to naught, and he is unsuccessful in his attempts at curing the player. Moreover his meddling means that the player must now miss 2 games instead of the Normal 1 due to the extended recovery process. :x
4: The Surgeon although unable to correct the injury, has made no lasting after effect, and no adjustment is made to the players stats. :-?
5: The Surgeon certainly knows his stuff, any Niggling injury suffered during the game is cleared up for good, although the player still misses the next game recuperating. :)
6: The Operation is a complete success, and injury suffered during the game is completely cured, and the players stats are returned to what they were at the start of the match. Also the operation is such a success that the player can play in the next game.

Stats: Surgeon ( Cost £150k ) Skills: Rusty Scalpel

Brilliant !
Maybe a Skill for a Apothecary ?

Lets say every cured Player = 2 SPP for the Apothecary; 20 SPP allows him to use that Rusty Skalpell ^^

Maybe once the Rusty scalpel results in 5 deaths or extra injuries, the rest of the lads employ an assassin to do away with the dodgy backstreet Surgeon, before he gets them.

What about bribing the opposing teams medic so that he "accidentally" ends the career of their #1 Star Player when the guy descides to get rid of a niggle... :D

The MBBL2 has already got rules for Different Apothecary levels so we are probably going over old ground there

Theirs are bought by gold aren't they ?

I mean your idea about the surgicals on niggling injuries can't be in that existing system;
on
Ok it would be easier to make the Surgeon a Special Wizard; But...

I sought of saw the Surgeon as a fun option different to the Apothecary. I Liked the idea of him failing just as often or even more than he succeeded, just to emphasise that a reliable surgeon is not to a regular occurence in the Warhammer world. My initial thought was that the Surgeon would be so preoccupied with his charge after the game that he wouldn't be able to cater for 2. Therefore the coach would have to hire 2 Surgeons if this option was to be pursued. Also the Surgeon would have to be purchased before the game for him to be able to have any effect on injuries within the game, as it would require his immediate attention

Well i think it would be good to have a possibility to get rid of niggling injuries. There are now way more niggles because players dont die that often and they age. Right now the Amount of niggles is unlimited (fix it! each niggle only once !) so getting rid of a niggle would be a nice option.

In the original suggestion a roll of 5 or 6 would have cured a niggling injury.

They don't happen multiple times - they just get worse:

Having two niggling injuries of Damaged Back, for example, would mean that the injury on his back has gotten that much worse that the probability of missing the game due to it has increased to 11/36 instead of 6/36.

So although we don't have skill levels, we do have injury levels!

i understand and its bad.

each niggle once results in a maximum ever possible number of niggles, 5.
And the chance to gett additional injuries is reduced with every niggle you pick up.

That means the maximum niggle chance is 25/36 or 70% chance to miss the game.

No way Hose, I mean McDeth, I wouldn't touch a surgeon with a barge poll. Far too lethal. Reduce the chances of failure and I like it.

there are already some rules about level 1/2/3/4 for apo.
Those are already good enought and tested . Try it and love it.
