The Halfling Scribe returns ...

Post by Tim »

The Halfling Scribe League Management Sheet for MS Excel is back ... and he's learned quite some things:

- LRB 5.0 support, fully automatic tracking of team value
- handles skill picks for players (complete list of LRB5 rosters)
- handles inducements (including a database of all Star Players).
- handles Journeymen.

And the regular stuff:
- Manages leagues of up to 25 teams (if needed, i can also make a 50 team version, but you'll need a good computer to run it smoothly).
- Keeps statistics for teams and players.

You can download it from my website: http://bbowl.gmxhome.de/scribe/

I've tested this version with maxed out rosters, so i'd consider it final. However, if you find an error, let me know.

A big thanks to Sebastian (Da_Crusher on this forum), who sent me an LRB5 version of the old sheet, which sparked my interested again. Instead of just testing and releasing this as planned, i ended up redoing half of the sheet :roll:

Cheers Tim, I know my league mates will find this of interest (they really started to get into the stats from the old version, to the point where the Elf coach challenged the Orc coach because the Orc coach had just knocked the Elf catcher of the top spot for #1 player).

I do, it's the rest of the league that plays 5 (or so they say).

Just means that for once, I have a great chance of winning the title. ;)

This thing is a godsent, I have been using it for my league stats. There were some very minor glitches that I had to alter, but for the most part it worked flawlessly. There are 13 teams in my league, and this makes it SUPER EASY to show how badly I am getting my ass kicked (Wood Elves are unforgiving @ the begining)

In V3.0 the inducement value calculation does not work. (No idea how i could miss that :roll: ). New V3.01 (-> homepage) fixes that.

If you already entered lots of data into V3.0, it's probably easier to fix the formula in R41 of all team sheets yourself by replacing the reference to I34:I40 to H34:H40.

Hey Tim, just noticed a small error on the spreadsheet. You have Kroxigor's valued at 130k, it should be 140k.

Indeed, I was in a hurry when posting my last note, didn't think to say thanks... so, THANKS! This is far and away better than what my meagre excel knowledge came up with for a league tracker. Solid work, Tim.

Thanks guys.

Now version V3.02 is up with a fixed price for the Kroxigor.

Again it's an easy fix in your sheet if you already populated it with data:
Format -> Sheet -> Unhide
Select sheet Database
Fix value for Kroxigor
Format -> Sheet -> Hide
Select sheet Database

Tim, ran into another problem tonight. I can't seem to have over 9 teams on the sheet without it glitching out and failing to load. I've tested a number of different ways to add a 10th team, but no matter what I do I get an error on opening the sheet.

As a last ditch, I tried downloading a brand new blank sheet from your site and just adding more blank teams up to 10. At 9 it opens fine, at 10 it won't load.

My limited excel knowledge leaves me scratching my head, heh.

Yeah, I had loaded 16 teams and found that it locked up on me wouldn't open. Hopefully, there is a quick fix.

Hmm, very strange. I tested it with 25 (fake) teams and everything seemed to work. I'll check it with my old computer to check if it's a memory issue maybe.

Please let me know which version of Excel you are using (i only have Excel 2003 SP2 to test with). What do you mean with locked up, what error do you get?

I made a sheet with 25 team sheets copied. Please check if you can open that: http://bbowl.gmxhome.de/scribe/scribe_l ... 5_lrb5.zip

For maximum compatibility i save my sheets as "Microsoft Excel 97-2003 & 5.0/95 *.xls". Please try to save it as just *.xls for your version (top entry in the File type dropdown in the "save as ..." dialog.
