If you can spot the faults in the drill cards and are sharp enough to realise that the modifiers have been added to some target numbers but not others, then the drill cards probably aren't aimed at you.

garyt wrote:Quick start rules are always a bit wrong on purpose? Well only if you mean the fact that they aren't including all the detailed rules. Quick start ussually means you don't need to worry about points values as you are given a set team/army. Then special rules like magic/special play or pre and post-game sequences are missed out. They are not deliberately made so the rolls required are wrong. Well at least not usually...

In this case dodging into 2 tackle zones and requiring a roll of a 6 is wrong (and 4+ for no tackle zones on the first dodge), unless they have adjusted the rule. Could even be a mistake! You could argue the +1 modifier for dodging is a detailed rule.
The designers have explained (can't remember if it was James or Andy) that the change was made to make the Drills more interesting rather than having anything to do with the rest of the game.

Not if their purpose is to allow people who've never played the game to see what it entails if they like the idea (and therefore hopefully convince them to buy).

Perhaps the Catcher suffered a Broken Neck and is now AG2. Perhaps the Orcs won the Chaos Cup and all received Prehensile Tail as their mutation rewards.

If you've never played before, each drill will let you experience major aspects of gameplay and/or form an opinion on whether you enjoy the game. Whether a Human Catcher acts like it's AG2 or AG3 has no bearing on whether you understand the concept of Dodging and Tackle Zones.

BOLs might be trying to redeem themselves after that other awful article. Just published a new one extolling the virtues of Blood Bowl.

They did a pretty decent job promoting it and should stick to that rather than suggesting rules changes or pontificating on the future of the game.

If it's likely to be released in November, wonder when/if we'll get confirmation... only five days 'til November lands!

Aspiring to improve on mid-table mediocrity, over in the SAWBBL.

Fancy an actual one-dayer? Check out The Coffee Cup.

Looking at attending your first tournament? Have a read of this.

The latest White Dwarf states it will be released 'Next Month', so that looks like the best confirmation to date.

Are you talking about the article that delivers the line:

"Even racism is, if not necessarily condoned, present in Blood Bowl."

Before they deliver another list of rumours the writer has made up with one hand free?

Because I am not a fan.

Podcasters have review copies - at least, one Age of Sigmar podcaster does.

There are a few going out and they won't be forgetting BB podcasts, so we'll see reviews from people who are familiar with the game as well.

A quick conflab on Twitter confirms that none of the UK podcasts have a review copy.

Percy is flipping livid about that I can tell you. Just because we haven't released anything in nearly a year, doesn't mean we don't count...

It's a shame, but they don't need it. From a marketing perspective, they need bang for their buck, which means hitting up influencers with the biggest audience. Like it or not, that AoS and 40k podcasters. Websites like BOLS and even Geek and Sundry and better targets too, as they support across a wider demographic.
