Hullo from north of the wall
Hello,
Just thought i'd introduce myself as that seems to the normal thing. I've not played tabletop BB in about 10 years but i've gotten back into it due to BB2 from Cyanide (hopefully Bretonnians become legal soon).
I recently signed up for the Ochilbowl in Stirling. Very much looking forward to it. I'll probably get pumped in pretty much every game but hey ho!
One major question i have is regarding NAF. SO i've been told i need to join NAF to play in the event. However im not sure what the point of NAF is? I looked at their little section however im no further forward. I work in the financial industry and as such im a member of the Union. However i understand why i want to be a member of this. I can see the benefit. I can't see the benefit in NAF at the moment.
Anyone have a better explanation?
Cheers one and all.
Martin.

Hello buddy and welcome,
The way I understand it is, if you want to pay for a membership to the NAF you can. Its not compulsory. Its five pounds, your games are recorded and the money is used by the NAF for various promotion stuff etc to keep the game going plus you get a gift. I think its a bargain.
If you play an opponent at a tournament who is a member and your not then their game is also not recorded.
Good luck and have fun

Re: Hullo from north of the wall
Well first of all, thank you for the reply.
So, it's basically for the admin for the recording of results etc. Ok, so i understand it a little better. As you said, it's only a fiver so i'm not fussed about that. I guess if i were to go to more events in the future then my opponents would probably want the results recorded as they might think it's important. Personally i'm probably not all that bothered either way
Thanks again.
Martin

Hey Martin
Look forward to meeting you at Ochil Bowl up in Stirling.
I'd recommend the NAF for a few reasons:
-Gives tournament play extra context with a record of results, rankings, head to head info and other stats
-Supports league play by signposting to local leagues, involved with software development for league management
-Cool and exclusive gifts each year, well worth the subscription price alone
The community is for me the best thing about playing Blood Bowl and being part of NAF is in my opinion the best way to engage with it.

Hi Martin (and welcome to TFF) where are you located North of the wall? I only ask as there are fairly active tabletop leagues in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen who are always very welcoming to new players. There's also a dedicated page for Scottish Blood Bowl on Facebook.

Hi there,
I'm in Glasgow. I've discovered that there is a BB league at G3, however i've never been.
