Diving Catch on a Pro Elf Catcher
Am I right in thinking that if I give a Pro-Elf Catcher Diving Catch then he will catch accurate passes on a 1+ on a D6?
(AG4 = 3+ with an aditional +1 for accurate pass plus an additional +1 for Diving Catch.)

1 is always a miss. So he will catch them 2+, but also 2+ if under one tackle zone.

With Nerves of Steel already on the Pro Elf catcher, he's always catching an accurate pass on a 2+ (unless you're in Disturbing Presence) so Diving Catch wouldn't help that much (unless you're in Disturbing Presence).

Re: Diving Catch on a Pro Elf Catcher
Toffer - my experience with Pro-Elves suggests that the Catchers are easily the best in the game. Once they have Dodge they are hyper-mobile, and with Catch/NoS they can catch teh ball in any number of TZs. They are great for catching bouncing balls in a scrum (8/9 chance).
I question the value of D-Catch on them for 2 reasons:
- There are far more valuable skills to give them (Dodge, Wrestle, Tackle etc.).
- The passing game is not important to Pro Elves. Very often they will just hand-off instead.
Hope that helps.

Re: Diving Catch on a Pro Elf Catcher
There are only really two reasons for giving a pro elf catcher diving tackle.
1. you're in a league where you see a lot of passing, and you skill up a catcher as a pass-blocker. Potentially gives you another chance for an interception (on an inaccurate pass)
2. you want to combo it with HMP.
Generally speaking, AG4 teams don't need diving catch - an elf thrower is almost never going to throw an inaccurate pass.

Re: Diving Catch on a Pro Elf Catcher
With AG4 and catch you already have everything you need to be a fantastic receiver, NoS is just icing on the cake for Pro Elfs.
Diving Catch used to be the biggest joke skill in lrb4 since it was pretty much useless. It got a slight boost in lrb5 but still falls firmly into the “nice to have but not really worth 20TV category” along with things like Strong Arm, Nerves of Steel and Passblock.
The only players I could see it being useful for would be human or amazon catcher, but that would be very much a late skill choice.
