You do notice on the vamps the space for me to put numbers though :p in tournaments I have found very little use for numbers with most of my opponents preferring skill rings, for league play I agree, numbers front and back.

I could see myself getting a bunch of minifigs rounded up for a team, priming them black, and then doing custom jobs on them.

I have a ton of metal teams (GW, Impact, others) I've painted myself, as well as plastic teams I've painted. Also, some pre-painted plastic teams like DnD minis and Star Wars minis, including an all-Ewok Dwarf team.

I also have begun building LEgo teams. When Lego started producing individual figures for sale without buying a huge set (I think Series 7 just came out), it became much easier to build Lego BB teams. They've made (as others have pointed out) Vamps, Werewolves, Golems (Frankenstein), Zombies, Norse-looking Vikings, Dwarves, an a ton of others. I made a full Khemri team - 8 Skellies, two Skellies with kings crowns (Thro-Ras), two Anubis Warriors (Blitz-Ras), and four Mummies with Pharoah's headdresses for Tomb Guardians - for less than $20 US.

Talking about the basing/numbering issue, you can use 2x2 flat bricks, put a 2x1 piece on one half with no pegs on it, then put the figure on the other half. This provides a base for them to stand on that fits in a BB pitch grid easily while giving you a nice flat surface up front to add the payers number. And you only need on set of 16 that can be used for any number of your Lego teams.

I'm a fan of ANY BB team that is easily identifiable as the players/creatures they are meant to represent. I've seen horrible metal teams that were so badly painted (or not painted at all) that is was just one big mess. I've also seen Lego teams that were just a hodge podge of colors and parts - blech.

Play the minis you like - metal, plastic, pre-painted, Lego, whatever - but put some pride into them!

The only lego elf availble is dobby, although there is a chaos dwarf and a minotaur which means you can make a lego chaps dwarf team (3 dobbys, six chaos dwarfs, minotaur, two horse bodys with the chaos dwarf upper halfs)

Heff...Keeping the Dwarf (and lego) hate alive
If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then really you need to go and play canasta with your dad...if you can find him.

I would admire someone who showed up at a table with a team full of these. I would probably get a good chuckle and tell them, "Nice team." I would then secretly say to myself, "I don't understand this silly LEGO Mini craze."

But whatever blows your hair back.

I'm kinda divided on this issue. On the one hand I like lego as such, and the figures are pretty distinct (at least the ones shown in this thread), and I understand not everyone wants to paint his mini's.

But on the other hand I know how much time and effort I spend on painting, and I kinda feel entitled to face a team which looks like someone did the same. For the same reason, I don't like to play v.s. primed/non-painted/ugly teams either.

But I know of course that I'm not 'entitled' to anything in this respect, and moreover that up to about a year ago I couldn't paint at all and played exclusively with bare metal mini's, so it's entirely hypocritical of me to be annoyed with facing similar teams.

And anyway, I'm currently being quite frustrated that the energy I put my painting is entirely unrelated to my succes in playing the bloody game, so ... yeah

Those teams are really cool and the minis easily distinguishable. I definately like this idea, at least when the LEGO's look like the positionals they should represent.

I have to say I hate this idea too. I saw someone bring a Lego team to a tourney once and hoped they were either not really playing it or that I wouldn't come up against it. I was going to say it's tough to explain why but then I realise it's not- I just think it's really stupid. I want to see BB figures on a BB board, and it's NOT about how easy they are to identify it's just about what to me is appropriate- and given that BB is a silly game to have fun with IMO it's going to be something really stupid for me to think it's not "appropriate". I agree with Heff, I'd rather see proper models that look like they've been attacked by a brush weilding maniac than this horrible fad take off any further.

Do they not do American football lego figures? If not they are missing a trick as sperate helmets and chest armour would be awesome.

Some of the examples shown do look good such as the vampires, werewolf and golems. But the thralls, ghosts and zombie bodies just don’t look right. There is nothing to connect them to fantasy football as they are wearing normal civilian clothes not even sports apparel.

I have never used Legos but I did use WWE Squinkies for my Vamp Team at Bugmans Bowl.



I made sure the bases were color coded, and the skills for each player was on the front and back of each base. So Vamps=RED, Thralls=Green, RR, Turn Marker, Score= Blue. For skills D=Dodge, B=Block, W= Wrestle. A clear marked team is all I am after when I play a team, my imagination creates the action on the field.

I'm with the others who would prefer to not see Lego vs. metal/plastic (painted or unpainted makes no difference to me) gaming miniatures in the same game. Perhaps a purely aesthetic preference, but really I'd much rather play with each side using tokens or paper-print-out models for consistency in aesthetic over three-dimensional mish-mashed legos and miniatures.

My only practical (ie, not aesthetic) critique of Lego teams with very clearly marked and labeled players is that they look rather tall. Knock a few down near each other, and I feel like the board and squares are going to get cluttered.*

*(For the same reason, I despise minis on cav bases or 40mm "big guy" bases. When making a team, I always make sure my big guys and centaurs all fit onto a 30mm base or smaller, and I always make 25mm based "unconcious head" tokens to mark when big guys are down. Now, all that being said, I understand some coaches don't have the access or interest in picking up extra bases or making tokens or the like, so if someone needs to put his four inch tall treeman prone on the pitch, well at least we're getting to play a game of BB together so it's not going to ruin my gaming experience or anything. But I do always cringe if I find out I'm playing an ogre team with six ogres on 40mm bases, as the board quickly becomes a cluster-frak of "what square is this guy in again?")

40mm bases aren't a problem when you have 40mm scaled board.
