Heh, I'm completely fine with "Throw a Rock" as is. It at most affects one player on each team, which won't change the course of the game nearly as much as a Blitz! result will. I mean, it sucks when it kills one of your superstars, but going down a player is something that happens during the course of every game.
Though, it's true that if Blitz wasn't a possibility, coaches could deploy in heavily asymmetrical offenses. So that's a good point. It does keep offensive formations "honest" to some degree.
Though I still think that, even if you set up with the possibility of a Blitz in mind, any opponent can still muck up your position really, really bad off of a Blitz (especially because you've usually got two players deep-ish to get the ball, so you're up-front positioning can easily have a hole blitzed (action, not KO result) into it. If your opponent is any of the elf teams, a Blitz basically gives them another touchdown about 50% of the time (aka game over).
Also, not everyone plays in heavily developed perpetual TV2000 leagues. Early in a new league season, it's common for coaches to be down a few players later into the game, making Blitz progressively more powerful.

The Blitz result is clearly stupidly ridiculously game changing and if the rest of the game was like chess it would be a terrible rule. But the game is so tremendously luck based and imbalanced that it's not bad that there is such a swingy kick off result.

I'm in agreement that Blitz has to stay, if only to keep the Offense honest. That said - the biggest (and most ridiculous) swing I've seen in a game was due to 3 back to back Blitz results. Going into the final 4 turns of the game, my Norse were down 0-2 vs. a Slann team. I won that game 3-2. My opponent didn't even know how to react, and all I could do was apologize (and laugh, a bit).

And after that I'm not going to complain about my last FUMBBL game any more (a riot and hail of bad-for-me/good-for-him dice turned a draw into a loss).

Perhaps move it to a 2 or 12.... I would like to see more ref bribes and adjusted turns than blitzes and rocks....

I agree that it should be 2 on the kick off table, but the actual blitz result is fine. Its one of those things that you love when you get it, but when it happens against you twice in a row in the semi-final against a wood elf team that you were recieving to grind out a 2-1 against youre so disgusted that you think blitz should forever be banned and you refuse to play wood elves again! (Not me , guy in our league )

I love the Blitz! and it's fine just as it is. It's one of those things that can make any game exciting. Without Blitz! a 2-0 lead at half time would usually result in the leading team walking away with a win. One Blitz! from the kick-off table can change all that and I think that adds a lot to the game.
Other kick-off table results that can really change the face of a game is Throw a rock and riot. Have lost a few good players and games because of both results. I've won a few games becuase of them as well so I think the kick-off table is good as it is.

Reduce the odds too much and more people will fail to prepare for it because "it will never happen," leading to further whining It's only 1 in 12 as it is; I think making it 1/36 would leave it toothless. The nerfing of Get the Ref makes it less gamechanging than the thrown rock, imo, and I'd swap those two, halving the odds of the rock while doubling the odds of the ref being got. Both are pretty low odds, so it's barely worth it.
