This is purely a hypothetical question: Let's pretend GW actually does an anniversary edition at some point. Let's also pretend that maybe they'll make a few small changes to the rules here and there (the cynic in me just hopes they wouldn't dare change anything).

But, given our hypothetical above, would you like to see the "Blitz!" kick-off table result (or any other kick-off results for that matter) changed or altered?

The more I think about it, the more I think I'd simply prefer to see Blitz! removed or perhaps changed to something that allows like one player on kicking team to take a turn or something.

I realize there is a strategic decision to make when you set up your players (how much should I set up to mitigate a Blitz! if it happens? etc.), but I think that more than any other single die roll the Blitz! result can drastically alter the course of an entire game.

I feel bad when I win games because I got a Blitz, and it's pseudo-annoying to lose a game because opponent got a Blitz. I realize BB is a zany game of skill and luck, but I've watched really good players lose an elimination play-off game after a vicious 15-Game Season simply because their opponent gets two blitzes during the game.

Just to qualify: I don't think Blitz is ruining Blood Bowl or that Blitz has to go or anything of the sort. I love the kick-off table and what it brings to the game. I'm merely pointing out that I sure wouldn't miss the Blitz! result if was ever eventually removed or heavily altered, as I think it's potential effect on the entire course of the game is perhaps a bit too strong (compared to other things).

I agree that Blitz! without a doubt can be the single biggest game changer on the KO table.

Having said that, I don't want to see it change. It works against you sometimes and others it saves your @$$. I think it's part of whats endearing about this game.

EDIT: If you were to tweak it though I think it would be okay to change it to be a 'bonus turn' at half your players MA rounded down. Or just move it to the 12 spot so it doesn't happen as much.

I think the blitz! result is fine. It forces your opponent to factor the risk in when setting up for their drive.

Without it, setting up to recieve would be much easier and most opponents would be more agressive with their positioning to start.

I, too, support Blitz! and would be sad to see it changed. The current version is perfectly acceptable.

No. In the past the Kick-Off table has been revised but Blitz wasn't changed much . Thank Nuffle for that.

Blitz needs to stay. It keeps offensive teams honest on kick-off and prevents them from setting up in overly offensive formations. If you are screwed by a blitz result then you have failed to prepare for it or had an unlucky drop of the ball as well.

Usually this for me.

Sheesh....it seems that lately the opposing kicker either drops the ball in my end zone or three squares from the LOS in a wide zone on a Blitz! You'd think it wouldn't happen as often as it does. Of course I'd also think it wouldn't be as possible for my first foul of the game to result in an ejection as often as it does either. :P

Its better than it was when the ENTIRE team got a move. I once played a game where I was on the wrong end of three blitzes, t perfect defences and a pitch invasion. Think I came 4th in that game (my opponent, the crowd, the ref, then me)

Depends on how much you want skill or dice to affect the game.
I think the game as a whole is too dicey with c-pomb and elves so it doesn't make much difference I guess.

Yup, although part of me misses it being that.

Darkson gets a cookie. I'm fine with blitz, its not exactly biased, (well maybe against high scoring teams) throw a rock on the other hand favors the dominate player and deserves a little tweek.

I agree. Blitz is fine.

I'd change Throw a Rock so that the worse injury it can cause is a Badly Hurt result.

It's only because a thrown rock once killed a Blodge-Surehands-Kick Off Return Ghoul of mine :pissed:

Furthermore, if ever the rock hits my opponents' teams their player is only stunned whereas if the rock hits my player it's mostly an instant SI or RIP.

Thrown rock you can do nothing at all about, so I think stunned or perhaps KO at worst for that. Blitz is something you can set up to defend against, so if you get caught out by it then it's your own fault.
