Or show your support by playing Elfball! (blatant plug, obviously, but also a serious suggestion).

Not instead of BB, obviously, but as well as!

What about "Galak's Pop & Crunch" (named after the tasty chocolate bar Galak Popri Crunch)
Halflings never tasted so good.

Indigo wrote:Just as I think the whole BB-in-crisis moment has passed I find this thread... c'mon guys it's hardly mature doing this. I appreciate how you feel about this but come on. GW have a blanket renewal of IP across all games - all of them, not just BB - and we get affected.

It's not personal, at all. GW don't hate Tom. GW don't hate BB. GW are protecting their business interests in the best way they see fit. We as a community, or rather elements of this community, need to accept this and grow the hell up.
Actually GW's defense of the BB IP has been quite selective. Many BB sites, with bloodbowl in the name of the site/link, have been left alone despite breaching many of GW's IP concerns outlined in the C&D letters. Right from the Cyanide forum there is a stickied link to 'fansites' that have seemingly been exempted from the wrath of GW. http://www.cyanide-studio.com/forumBB/v ... hp?f=4&t=4

So in a way, yes, certain elements are being forced to 'accept' this action while others are allowed to continue on as is. That in no way means anyone needs to accept it. BB (the rule set) has been a community-owned game for some time now for all intents and purposes.

I think a good halfling team name would be named after their primary sponsor:

Galak's Coffee & Doughnuts

Someone with a Woodie, Elf, or Human team could field a team of protectors of the sacred scrolls and writings of the game:

Galak's Scribes, Protectors of the Sixth Book of the Laws & Rites of Blodbowl

A rough and tumble team:

Galak's Cut-throats & Desperados

Nurgle:

Galak's Cursed & Decaying

Whilst I like the idea of the Galak team naming, and completely disagree with Indigo about how GW handle their IP (they are just heavy handed and have little knowledge and are often inaccurate on what they accuse websites of, but because of the fear of legal action on small individuals pursuing their hobby it is safer to remove all) personal messages with flames and insults should not be tolerated at all.

One of Blood Bowl's biggest strengths has been the maturity of the player base and it has made me sad reading this (and other) threads where people who have got on in real life have let this issue divide them and not accept other people may have a different viewpoint.

Yawn! Morning Guys...

Blimey, when you spend six months out of the TBB no sorry TFF loop, a lot happens...

I think I've got the jist of what's going on here...well, the tip of the Iceberg probably ...

I just wanted to say two things ...we changed thrudbowl to thrudball due to IP, but it was in liason with GW Legal who to be fair to them are employed to protect GW from even the slightest 99.99%-probably-will-never-happen IP challenges, and unless you work in this role (lets be honest who'd be a lawyer?) you'll struggle to see any justification for the need to pursue IP, even if you are not passionate about Bloodbowl ... they're passionate about LAW - revolting!!

Also although I do not know or want particulary to provoke anyone else who does to shed light on the dealings that thruds creator had with GW, I believe whatever is happening to Tom has happened before (Felix books...) and will happen again...as with any multi million pound company if you work in a creative role and you do not have a written legal agreement protecting your IP, some B******d in Accounts (and it usually only takes one) will always eventually realise "hey, Legally WE own that, don't we?" and then the rug gets pulled from under your feet ... so protect YOUR IP just as GW are...if you can.

Whilst whatever went on between Tom and GW is none of my business I will support the Galak thing if it makes him feel in any way better...has anyone taken the Team name "Pangalaktic Gargleblasters" yet, or can I have it for my Chaos Pact side?

Frank
P.S. 99.99% Certain Thrudball is 7-8th AUGUST this year, will confirm by separate post tomorrow!

Unfortunately the Blood Bowl GT is the only tournament in the world that I'm aware of that is NAF registered that does not allow the 3 new teams. Even the other Majors that are GW sponsered and held at GW locations allow the 3 new teams ... its just this event that does not.
