The team will make its debut at next week's CanCon tournament in Canberra, Australia... haven't even played Nurgle yet in LRB5, so it will be interesting!

Good luck in your tourney.

OMG - they're UGLY (and with Nurgle that's a compliment  :D )!

Joking aside, I really like your team and the paint job on the beast, warriors and Pestigors is great :D ! In particular I love the way you have painted the green armour on the warriors.

Only slight criticism: the green armor on most of the Rotters doesn't fit with the team, it's too bright. Why didn't you use the same scheme as with the warriors? And I'd also add some more contrast to the exposed entrails (maybe some purple shading).

Cheers

Not bad. Some of the greens are a bit strong and could use toning down a little, but a perfectly decent team that will get a few admiring looks and far from shame you.

No, fair point...

The NW's were the first things I painted. Did them in their entirety and then did the Pestigors which were again a dull, but brown based colour.

Then I started doing the rotters but they looked awfully dull and I decided to brighten them up with bits of bright green and bits of orange.

They're different... and I may get back to redoing the NW's to match (but I have a tourney next weekend and time is short) but for the moment, the "fluff" that explains them is that the NW's are old Rotters who have proved their worth to Nurgle and gain Warrior status and ancient armour...

The young rotters are given new armour pieces with a brighter green.

Kinda lame-o, but its my story and I am sticking to it :P

Nice team Clay ... very well done.

Is the Warrior with the blended two heads a custom job by you or a miniature I've not seen yet?

Thanks Galak. Its not a conversion, the NW's are WHFB Chaos Warriors and I have used bits of the mutation sprue from that.

The mini's came from Lahatiel who posted in this thread:

Actually, it's not the 40K sprue, but fantasy sprues. ;)

Chaos Warriors mutation sprues...

Trust me, I'm the one who bought the WFB mini box in the first place and then sold some of the pieces to Clay -- I'm not lying when I said the pieces came out of a box of WFB Chaos Warriors. It's just that GW uses the same Chaos mutation sprue for both WFB and 40K. :)

That said... good job with those figures, Clay! They turned out looking great.

Thanks! I do think the NW's with some mutations on them from the get-go add to the Nurgliness of the team...

In hindsight, I perhaps shouldnt have used the Big Hand but another tentacle or claw... but still, I am happy and many thanks again for the sprues!

Hi,

Just a post to say that the team played at CanCon (which I was running too by the way) and it was a straight 7 game progression tournament with a Swiss system.

The amazing thing was that we got 50 coaches!! A record for an Australian tournament. :D

I placed 18th I think with a 4-0-3 record.

Game 1 vs Orcs (lost 0-3; Cas 2-2)
Game 2 vs Ogres (lost 0-3 again!; Cas 3-3)
Game 3 vs Humans (won 2-0; Cas 4-2)
Game 4 vs Wood Elves (won 2-1; Cas 3-1)
Game 5 vs Humans (won 1-0; Cas 2-1)
Game 6 vs Norse (won 2-1; Cas 2-1)
Game 7 vs Wood Elves (lost 0-3; Cas 1-5)

The team finished about 5th in the "Best Painted Team" comp and I found the Nurgle roster both incredibly interesting and frustrating at the same time.

I also was able to field inducements on most occaisions and found myself taking Max Spleenripper. This lead me to this theory:

"The Law of Nuffle says that when a Chain Saw and a Beast of Nurgle are on the field at the same time, it will be Nuffle's Law that one of these two will fail their Kickback or Really Stupid rolls"

Against the first Woody team, the Beast was on fire tieing up elves all over the place. In Game 7, it was horrendous with even a Wood Elf catcher stunning the big guy!

All up, a great team to play, the development of the Pestigors and Nurgle Warriors is great, picking up the odd Rotter is also fun and I will continue to use the team in our local league.

For the record, I started with a BoN, 2 NW's, 2 Pestigors, 6 Rotters, 3 ReRolls, $30K banked.

Nice, though I hate that spawn model (and the new ones).
