TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

Italian captain Phoenix has selected an official Team Italy for EurOpen - Smilzo, Barbossa, Matte. Like it.

Have we decided what we are doing re: selecting a team England EO team ie Lycos picking vs the community choosing?

Dropped Lycos a message last week to make him aware of this chat / suggestion of him being involved in putting a EO TE in place. Not got back to me yet.

How would community choice work? Individuals nominate themselves then there's a vote?

That’s probably the best way. Or Dave shortlists three and puts them to the public?

You add another level of admin and time (and probably politics/inconvenience for whoever’s making the decision, too) doing it that way.

I’d say eligible team captains in the EO put themselves and their (hopefully willing!) team forward for consideration for the TE EO team spot.

That way, you don’t stop teams being created whilst you’d be choosing from X amount of coaches who hadn’t committed to X amounts of teams, in the hope of getting a TE EO spot.

Example, I’m captain of Two and a Half Men, comprising of Merrick, Domfluff and myself. By date X (hot take: a date after the EuroBowl entries have closed), I’d have let Lycos (or whoever is the TE captain at the time) know that I wish for my team to be considered for the TE EO spot. He/we/you/them/us then decide between my team and any others who have put themselves forward, and the decision is made.

If we’re successful, we become EurOpen Team England and, if we’re unsuccessful, we remain Two and a Half Men. We then go on to defeat EurOpen Team England in the final game, leading to red faces all round and a complete revisit to the obviously flawed selection system, go us.

Could you not have more than one EO TE?

Guess all of this needs a bit of a rudder. If there is going to be an "official" EurOpen Team England then for that to be meaningful it needs something formal from our community to give it that mandate. IMO the best way is for the captain to get involved to give some direction.

Sorry, I was thinking this year. Teams (not individuals) put themselves forward and then it could go to a vote (if we were going community choice over captain’s pick)

I think for Cardiff:

1) All paid up teams of three English coaches who want to be considered for the opportunity to be Europen Team England put their names forward on this forum, by the 14th June

2) Some kind of hidden poll is run, in which English coaches can vote. One team of three is selected on this basis on the 28th June.

3) those three get Team England shirts with cap numbers EO1, EO2 and EO3

4) anybody else who wants an England shirt for Cardiff makes themsrlves known by July 7th so the group order can be placed

Those dates are plucked out of the air but seem reasonable? I think a vote is preferable to Lycos picking because this is an ad hoc thing that was never part of the captain's responsibilities...in other words it's not what he signed up for!

Does anyone HATE this idea?

Happy to be a neutral teller for the vote if that helps.

@Nippy - I think it looks good mate. No objections here.

BTW Lycos got back to me and picking an EO three wasn't something he thought was a good idea.

Crack on with Nippy's plan I say, if no objections.
