Request to change a member's signature lines

Post by Smeborg »

8) Support Privateer Press and GRIND! 8)
:pissed:NOT ANOTHER PENNY FOR Greedy wankles! :pissed:

Dear administrators -

The above is the signature of Digger Goreman on this site.

I suggest the second line of the signature is unduly inflammatory and abusive. Furthermore, in juxtaposition with the first line of the signature, it suggests that Digger Goreman is being deliberately inflammatory and abusive towards one commercial interest in order to promote other commercial interests.

If you agree with me, please can you ask Digger Goreman to change his signature to something more reasonable.

Seriously?

Have you read any of the posts in here lately that discuss anything to do with Greedy wankles?

Not another penny is actually rather nice comparatively.

I do agree that smileys should be removed from signatures, especially the animated ones as they can really be distracting, but I think that a lot of us here right now are a little disenchanted with G. W. at the moment.

I don't have a problem with it, and I'm hardly Digger's favourite admin.
If one of the other admins/mods want to change, fine, but I'm not going to do it.

I find it offensive as i have many of his comments of late but thats a personal opinion and thus keep it to myself.

Ii think alot of the mods have got caught up in the pitchfork weilding masses and failed to be impartial with moderating this site no matter what they're personal views on topics are yes Tom has been very harshly and unfairly treated and i will support him in anyway i can but with reason and not by venting my spleen and getting caught up un mass hysteria.

just a little food for thought maybe the christmas break will force some people to step away and clear thier heads a bit

as Impartial Moderation of a site like this one, usually peopled by a friendly bunch of adults who play a game originally designed with adolescents in mind.... We can be as mature (or not) as the rest of you.... well maybe not as much as some...

The recent events have led us to adopt a more "ride it out" approach....

some of you have been very "bored" with the reactions of some others as the knees jerk and the jaws flap...

In time it will disappear into memory, however we will not, nor will this game. Every grudge has it's limits.

Needless to say if enough Forum members complain about this we will reassess but for now we will sit patiently for the maturity to return.

unless a bunch of Intelligent commentary along the lines "+1" occurs....

It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Over the last decade the company involved have proven themselves worthy of being giving the nickname Digger has used, in connection to more than the events of the last couple of months. Hysteria or otherwise...if the cap fits...

So I'm not going to do anything either I'm afraid.

Hi, Sme'... eh, you could've asked in PM....

I actually did research to make sure "wankles" wasn't overtly offensive... while looking for something that conveyed the dismay I feel.... Given that Wikipedia isn't a "peer reviewed"/academically sound source, but the social connotations seemed accurate....

To tell the subjective truth (and I'm trying to put a cap on my vivid imagination and penchant for word-play/sight gags/double-entendres/etc.) I feel the playing field is hardly fair: GW legal plays especially dirty pool, while Rodders reminds us of the "rules" for fair play on the site... (btw, Rodders, while disagreeing... I agree with your needing to say it....)

Promoting one business interest over another...? Can't see where that comes into play, despite having read the thread.... This is now TFF and includes a wealth of various companies that I've monetarily supported and (in a "fanboy" way, I suppose) "hawked" their products when I've found them "neat".... I can't even begin to tally how much GW has gotten outta the DG coffers over the years... and I don't play other than Blood Bowl from them.... Do I still play BB? Oh, yeah!, damned near exclusively!!!! But I also think there are other/(currently) better uses of one's gaming buck in companies like Privateer Press, Reaper, Wyrd, Zenit, Impact, Heresy, Shadowforge, MadPuppet, Darkson, West Wind, Two Hour Wargames, and many others that appreciate the gamer....

Sorry the need was felt to go publicly on this personal issue.... Know that I still respect you in a friendly manner and harbor no ill will....

The ability to gloss over and not read it is the best form of censorship

no probs from me about promoting another company heck i've gotten rid of most of my 40k and wfb stuff and in the process of getting shot of the rest

i made a descision to support GW on my terms that means i'll buy specialist stuff and go to the BBGT to show my support for Bloodbowl but will not support their core systems.

Above all well said Digger I've thought alot of your posts lately OTT and encitful but maybe thats me reading more into it you've shown that your the bigger man certainly bigger than a certain company thats trying to use Aggresive and hostile big business tactics and alienate the community they created when they were run in a fit and proper manner

Hi Digger -

I bear you no ill will.

I posted this as a public matter, as I am neither administrator of this site nor self-appointed policeman. I felt this was a public matter, as I wanted to know where the administrators and others stood.

I am a staunch advocate of free speech, but as a member of this forum for a number of years, I have observed what you might call "cycles of abuse", which only seem to be solved when tackled robustly be one or more adminstrators. It seems we are in such a cycle now.

My post wasn't aimed at Diggers sig. I quoted what sums up how I've felt about the moderation on here for long before the cease and desist letters went out.

I've not said anything before but its just getting worse. I understand people are going to vent about stuff but anyone marked as staff for a community site should be setting an example.

This isn't really isolated to here, same thing on cyanide board and fumbbl as well. I expect better from the community as a whole though not just the moderators.

Sticking with the subject of sigs though, I dislike any of the needlessly large ones, voyagers_uk for example and anyone using an overtly large image in theirs. There are a few sigs I'd like to be able to ignore if there is some mod that can be installed to allow users to selectively ignore sigs of certain posters.

I agree with you here (I've had a few words with certain members over the years). I've sent v_uk a polite PM (which you could have done).

I'd suggest you PM Ian about the mod so he can look for one, or if you know of one already, let him know.
