Upcoming TE business

Hello everyone,

I’m posting today on behalf of the Team England (TE) committee to summarise upcoming discussions, elections / votes and the TE selection timeline for Greece 2024. While we will be advertising each stage of this process across social media, we encourage you to share widely via whatever format you feel best to reach interested parties. Discussions and the most important information will be hosted here on TFF, so please remind those that don’t use the forum daily to pop by and get involved!

Firstly, we need to elect a captain for 2024. Please refer to the TE charter for eligibility information, but essentially an England captain must be English, have played 50 games of non-variant Blood Bowl and have attended a Eurobowl / EurOpen outside of the UK. The timeline for this election is:

• 16th Oct: Thread opened for candidates to make themselves known
• 23rd Oct: Assuming 2+ candidates, Q&A begins
• 30th Oct: Voting begins
• 6th Nov: Voting ends, captain elected unless further rounds of voting are required (see the TE charter for details on instant run-off voting, in the event there are 3+ candidates)

Secondly, the committee would like to make some minor changes to the TE charter and formalise some decisions made during selection for the tournament in 2022. We would like to see TE (both Eurobowl and EurOpen) selected by the end of the proceeding calendar year to give coaches intending to travel the maximum possible time to assemble teams and make arrangements. We would also like to formalise the 2022 method of selecting the official TE EurOpen team (via the committee). The full document with highlighted changes will be shared shortly and the timeline for the community to vote on it is as follows:

• 27th Oct: Voting begins
• 5th Nov: Voting ends

If the changes to the charter are successfully voted through, the qualification period for the 2023 team will change and we recognise this may unfairly exclude some who haven’t played much since May and intend to be active in Q1. In this instance, we will relax the 25 non-variant game objective selection criteria.

Lastly, TE will be selected. Assuming the changes to the charter are not controversial, the captain will be invited to set out their method and timeline for selecting the Eurobowl coaches by the end of 2023. The committee (including the captain) will select the EurOpen coaches according to the same timeline.
