What counts towards the 24 (or 26)?

Post by ramchop »

Stemming from a facebook discussion. What counts towards getting the 24? Does 7s count? Online NAF?

Single games in a TT turncoat tournament? Go ahead, knock off 4 races in one day!

Is there an official position on this?

I'm curious

(let me know if you're not happy with the poll options, I can add more - I think)

I voted for the single NAF game, so you can get more than one at Turncoat.

But I wouldn't have a problem including online tournaments (Like Road to NAFC on FumBBL). Same rules and logically I consider that a "Normal" tournament.

I'm not sure what "Sevens" is, and I don't think it's "Normal" Blood Bowl enough to count it towards the 24.

I think online would count too - although I must admit I wish my FUMBBL games hadn't been recorded. If I'd known they would have been later included in the database I wouldn't have taken Halflings all the time for a laugh.

The short answer is (as I understand it) nothing official - it is purely 'ceremonial'; one of the Australian lads (Bill 'fnord23' I think) did Patches of '24 NAF Legend' which were given out at last world cup for those on NAF 24 list at that point (only TT).

To date I think even if you only had 1 NAF result for a race and historically it was all TT then the results would trigger as 'done the 24' - http://naf.talkfantasyfootball.org/prolific.html

Personally - I think you should have at least a 1 day tournament with each race (so minimum 3 matches) and as a purist I would keep it distinct so you could have an 'Online 24' and 'TT 24'... but in my heart having 'done the 24' will mean TT, but that's just me.

I'd echo most of Loki's post. Some people don't feel they have 'done' the 24 until they have 6 games with each race, some are happy with just 1. For me I'd say anything that makes that race show up as played on your NAF coach page. If you can see it then it happened.

(Nothing resembling an official response here, as the NAF considers the 24 to be completely informal.)

Optimally, I would have you show up to a tournament with a team in order for it to count. I'm not sure why variant tournaments wouldn't figure in, as you're still spending a day or more playing Blood Bowl. I did go back and fill in my variant races ASAP after hitting 24, though.

Practically, I agree that once it shows up on your page, it counts. It's unfortunate (in my opinion, if that needs to be restated) that online games are included, as they're obviously entirely different in terms of effort required, but keeping them as an "extra separate" variant on the site proved overly difficult. Can't win them all!

They're going to be stripped out soon, for what it's worth... :)

In Denmark all tabletop games count.

only need to play 24 games to reach 24 races.

NAF has spoken
The NAF wrote: 3. The 24-26

New patches are being ordered for the 24 and the +2.
Patches can be bought if people have the old one and want the new one, otherwise supplied by the NAF.
For the new patches, at least 3 games with each race will be required, of any tabletop kind.

I like this result. 3 games minimum is a good amount. One game just seems silly since most tournaments are at least 3-6 games. Hopefully, this puts the discussion of the '24+2' to rest, finally.

I think that it should be one two day tournament or six games, the difference is some two day tournaments play five games and it seems unreasonable to ask to play an extra game after that.

Personal preference I know
