VASSAL ElfBall League?

Would people be interested in this?

What you need
I have been asked a few times what you need to play it so here is a quick list!

1) The VASSAL engine. The ElfBall mod is very buggy on the latest mod but runs just fine on VASSAL 3.0.x so download and install this file, if you dont have Java then it will install it for you! Do not use any later versions as the Mod will not work properly!
http://www.vassalengine.org/install/VASSAL-3.0.zip

There is an excellent helpfile on VASSAL's site that explains everything, how to connect to the server etc. You can find this here, however you can play standalone without being on the net
http://www.vassalengine.org/wiki/doku.p ... ng_started

2) The ElfBall Module. You get this here
http://www.vassalengine.org/community/i ... le_id=3435

If you need help using the mod, then GrumpyGrizzly and I wrote a comprehensive helpfile. Simply unzip the following file and open "ElfBall Helpfile" and that should explain almost eveything!

Maybe, if I can get the things to work.

For some reason I find myself really wanting to paint teams for Elfball, rather than finishing off my Chaos Dwarfs...compromising by adding the last figs to my Valkyrie/Amazon/Human team...then Gnolls.

Can I recommend this module instead of the one listed above:

In my experience the latest mod has a problem with dash, though this might be my fault. Anyone want a game, let me know.

Is that a turn by turn Email program?

It would be nice to play per email, since I do not have the time to sit and play live.

Only problem with pbem is that there are lots and lots of turns in an elfball game! It is possible though.

I'm trying the tool out with Brownrob on Sunday -will let you know how long a game takes online.

Tried extracting the zip file from that link but nothing seems to work. i have the latest version of Java, so that isn't a problem.

Which one? The helpfile, vassal, or the mod?

Try here:
http://www.vassalengine.org/community/i ... &Itemid=26

for vassal.

Here:
http://www.vassalengine.org/community/i ... page=Files

for the mod (I recommend v5-1).

Helpfile should be okay. Available for a game tomorrow, Monday or Tuesday if you are interested.

Followed the instructions - downloaded version 3.0, unzipped it, double clicked the .bat file - but only get an error message saying it can't find javaw. No idea what's going on.

I'd try the latest version, but the mod apparently doesn't work with it :(

Got it to work easily enough, shame I have no idea how to play the game... anyone fancy teaching a newbie the ropes? I am quite interested in getting the boxset but I really want to see how it plays first.

We had a little game last night, in which Sann basically taught me how to play. Its really enjoyable and I can see myself getting into it, depending on there being people to play against of course.
