I wouldn't call this game breaking, as your player has 1/6 chance of being evicted each turn.

What I would like to see is something about the playing styles of the different teams.

I always wanted to try Elfball but I can't decide what team may fit my taste.

I got the impression that there are 2 main styles the offensive and defensive teams depending on the number of skill 4 players that you got.

Good call Cyagen - antipixi did a quick summary of each, but a mini-playbook would be cool. In terms of offensive/defensive, that might tie into whether a team that wins the face-off would rather dominate the centre, or retreat into their own half, and that then ties into which players they have available.

Another thing that I think most BB player fail to realise is that a Midfielder is NOT a Lineman but a very usefull player.

If you are playing Sarcos and your opponent catch you out of position and you got only Strikers to stop his attack your are in trouble.

Midfielders never put you in a bad spot because they can advance the ball, tackle the ball carrier or create space for the other players.

In BB a positional is objectively better than a Lineman but not in Elfball.

I experimented with a 2 hunters, 2 strikers, 1 midfielder and 1 Croc Sarcos team and I liked it better then the ones with 3 hunters or 3 strikers.

Mentioned previously someone talked about intentionally taking a dive to avoid a tackle. This could be used especially well by Deadlings who want to "Camp" by the goal circle or out of bounds, the fall down and lie in wait (since it is free for most of the to get up from being down). This also seems like a very undead tactic, one might want to add it to the how to play deadlings.

Could also be a good way to end a dervish push out, he pushes you out then falls down in a dash attempt...

Agree here, the midfielder should be viewed as another positional player, rather than a 'lesser' peice - they also have access to abilities that other players do not

Yeah but that section is 99% your work - I didn't want to start cutting it up :D

I've slowly been adding bits to the Abilities section - as I said before, I'm short on free time at the mo, so it may take a while.
It's my intention to add playbooks eventually - one for each team (that's the vision!).

For a general playbook, there's no better one than the one that DL did on the Impact Forum. I'll probably lift that (with all due credit) for now.

Also - I'll add my agreement on Midfielders - they are great pieces (and in no way sub-standard as Linemen in BB).

In fact, I'll be fielding two in the upcoming tournament in preference to Strikers/Hunters.

I've just added (ie copy and pasted!) a new section to the Wiki:

Section 10: Playbooks

Written by Dark Lord some while ago, this section has some fantastic hints and tips on positioning, movement and general gameplay tactics which will be useful for anyone (old or new to the game).

View it here:-

Are you suggesting that I'm being a little bit too transparent? 8)

Abilities question:

For an Contraption specifically, but other players generally: Is it better to get attribute skills that boost already strong attributes or is it better to make up for weaknesses? Or would you think this is a case by case basis?

Example:
Contraptions have high might and tackle, but low grit: would it be better to "buff" them or make them "resiliant".

In this example my thoughts were I would rather keep this piece on the field than lose it because I can only field 3 total on my roster?

Whereas if I were playing Gnolls I think I would boost my safety with "steady" and "sprinter" rather than boost his skill, but that is just me.

Hope this helps develope even more abilities strategies, I still have not used them enough to know what is better. Maybe I should play a game with one of each type of abilities and see which is more effective. Thinking out loud here... ????
