3rd ed wood elves team value?

Post by sylvain »

I was browsing ebay and noticed wood elves teams have been sold for very high prices
seen one sold "new" in box for 130£ and one still in shrinkwrap sold for 160£, I know they are probably the best team but it sounds a bit high is that really what they usualy sell for?

If you look at the sold items on Ebay, 35-45£ seems more normal

actualy as I said (or tried to say!) in my original post, I was looking at SOLD listings ;)
didn't see cheaper ones in boxes (only have seen 2 though) except if painted
even unpainted/stripped still look expensive

People often pay a lot more for models still in the box for some reason.

I've even heard of people knowingly buying empty boxes, either to complete a collection or put models in them to then sell as boxed. The extra cost is offset by being able to sell it for more.

Not sure if wood elves would go for more, maybe because they are a strong team. Have always thought they were one of the ugliest in 3rd ed and that was a pretty weak time for GW models.
Would love to see a wood elf team in the style of the 6th edition WHFB models, those were gorgeous.

yes I've seen people sell (and buy) empty boxes...
collectible value ;)
you may also assume that the minis will be in better condition or aren't recast

and yes, the 3rd ed wood elves aren't the best team around, I blame the design more than the technical skills
that's why I was considering ebaying mine if the silly prices are real :p
