Steelbowl 2, 2, 26th January 2019, Sheffield

Post by Littleleadperson »

The Steelbowl returns!!

Steelbowl II is a Blood Bowl Tournament with a twist.

Join us for three rounds of sporting mayhem on the 26th January 2019 with the heaviest ball out there on the Blood Bowl scene!!

Venue: The Outpost, 2 Neepsend Lane, Sheffield S3 8AU.

The Steel Ball

The Steelbowl is named after the famous heavy steel lined ball used in all its games!

When the ball is kicked off it only scatters D3 squares instead of the normal D6. In addition it is not affected by the gentle gust of wind from the 'Changing Weather' result from the kick off table.

If the kicking team has a player who meets the requirements for using the Kick skill then they may not elect for the distance to be halved and rounded down. Instead they may choose for the scatter distance to be reduced by one after the D3 is rolled.

When the steel ball is thrown, thrown in or kicked off, it will not bounce if it lands in an unoccupied square.

If it lands in a square with a prone or stunned player make an Armour roll for the player before the ball bounces. If they are removed from play as a result, the ball does not bounce.

The Rules

The format will be a standard resurrection format with the same team roster to be used in every match with no injuries, deaths, raised players or player progression carrying over between games.

There will be trophies for the overall winner, most casualties, most touchdowns, Stunty Cup and best painted (which will be determined by coaches' votes).

We will be using BB2016 rules including the Arguing the Call rule. Pile on can be used as normal without using a reroll. The Illegal Procedure rule will not be enforced.

Team Roster

Coaches have 1.2 million gold to spend on their teams. Rosters and Star Players from the Death Zone or Spike! supplements can be used. The Teams of Legend PDF may be used for those rosters not yet released in the supplements. Also Star Players from the CRP may be used. The most recent publications take precedence.

In addition Khorne, Bretonnian and Slann teams can be used. The team rosters of which can be found on the NAF web page.

Inducements are not allowed with the following exceptions:
- 0-2 Star Players may be purchased for a team once the roster has 10 standard
players on it’s roster.
- Halflings may purchase a Halfling Masterchef for 100K
- Goblin teams may purchase up to three bribes at 50K each

All rosters should be sent to indieash254@googlemail.com by the 19th January 2019.

Skills

Each team has a skills package to enhance their players; this will be done on a tier system.

TIER 1 :Amazon, Chaos Dwarf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Lizardman, Norse, Orc, Skaven, Undead, Wood Elf, Bretonnian
TIER 2 : Chaos, Chaos Pact, Elf, High Elf, Human, Khemri, Necromantic, Nurgle, Slann, Khorne, Underworld, Vampire
TIER 3: (Stunty): Halfling, Goblin, Ogre, Underworld (no Skaven), Lizardmen (no Saurus)

The skills packages will be as follows:
TIER 1 = 4 normal skills
TIER 2 = 4 normal skills and 1 double skill
TIER 3 = 4 normal skills and 2 double skills
You may not assign more than one additional skill to any player and star players may not have additional skills added. A single skill may not be assigned more than twice to players on the team.

Additional Rule: Get Those Little Legs Running!

Goblin, Ogre, Halfling and Underworld (without Skaven) teams may give one player of their choice the skill Kick off Return.

This is in addition to the 2 double and 4 normal skills they would have already been allocated from the skills package. The chosen player must not be a Star Player and may not be a player who has already been given additional skills from the skills package.

Time Limits

There is a time limit for games so coaches are encouraged to play four minute turns to ensure games are completed. Any games other than game 1 that reach the time limit will have to be halted and the result at this point will be the final result of that game. Game 1 may be played into lunch only if both coaches agree this with the TO at the start of lunch.

Main Details

The tournament cost is £10 and payment can be made by Paypal to indieash254@googlemail.com (please pay as 'Friends and Family’ to avoid being charged fees). Alternatively they can be bought from the Outpost directly instore or via telephone on (0114) 275 2172.

The tournament is not NAF sanctioned and is open to all to play.

Schedule

The round 1 match will be randomly determined. In the following rounds players will be ranked by points total and paired off into matches e.g. 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs. 4th etc using score. Where players are tied on points, they will be drawn against a random opponent who has the same number of points. Players will not be drawn against an opponent they have already played during the tournament.

09:30 – 10:00: Registration
10:00 – 12:15: Match 1
12:15– 12:45: Lunch
12:45 – 15:00: Match 2
15:10 – 17:25: Match 3
17:45: Awards

Tournament points are scored as follows for each match:
3 points for a win
1 point for a draw
0 points for a loss

Tiebreakers for those on equal points will be determined by (in this order):
- ‘Strength of Schedule’ i.e. by adding up the total scores of their three opponents; the higher net total achieving the higher position.
⁃ Head to Head (if all players on equal points played each other)
⁃ Combined net touchdowns and casualties

At the end of the tournament, the highest placed player will be crowned the Steelbowl champion!

Only blocking casualties (i.e. those that would yield SPPs) count towards tiebreakers and the Most Casualties prize.

Hope to see you there!!!!
