Stunty Slam - 26.9.15 - Stockport

Post by Leipziger »

STUNTY SLAM 2015

What is the cost?
Absolutely nothing this year! Just the cost of you getting there.

Date: Saturday September 26th 2015

Where is it being held?
NWGC, Hallam Mill, Hallam Street, Stockport, SK2 6PT

Eligible teams: Halfling, Ogre, Goblin, Skavenless Underworld. No all skink line ups this year

Which ruleset?
The most recent Games Workshop rules (Blood Bowl Competition Rules).

Team Design: TV100 (& 100k for skills - these are separate pots of money)

4 rounds – Black Ice!, Multiball, Play Your Cards Right, Clone Ball & Spuds Check!

Only Stunty Star players available (including the Waterbowl stars Gobby Stiles, The Thing From The Pit* and Stick E Bunn)

*The Thing From The Pit is the one exception to the stunty only rule.

Wizards are allowed

All teams can access these stars (and at the same price). Any team can access *all* stunty stars (i.e. stars with the stunty attribute) e.g. Goblins can purchase Puggy, Halflings can hire a ball & chain or pogoer.

Bribes and the Master Chef cost the same for all the teams (50 & 100k respectively)

Cards only available in the Play Your Cards Right round.

Skills:

Skills are chosen from the tiers below. You have 100k to spend on your skills. There is no extra charge for choosing doubles skills but each skill can only be chosen up to a maximum of twice on your team. Only Underworld can access mutations.

Tier 1 (40k per skill): Block, tackle, mighty blow, leader, claw, strip ball, sure hands, dodge, Pro, guard, multi block, kick

Tier 2 (20k per skill): Diving tackle, break tackle, wrestle, sidestep, dauntless, catch, sprint, leap, accurate, pass, HMP, jugs, stand firm, big hand, prehensile tail, tentacles, foul appearance, 2 heads, dirty player, piling on, strong arm

Tier 3 (10k per skill): Fend, pass block, shadowing, diving catch, sneaky git, nerves of steel, safe throw, thick skull, disturbing presence, extra arms, very long legs, sure feet

The Stunty Slam Star Players
In addition to the usual choice of stars available in the rules book, you can also choose to include one of the following stars on your team:

El Diablo
Snot stats/skills + Loner, Dauntless, Wrestle & Jump Up 80k

Gobby Stiles
Goblin stats/skills + Loner, Dirty Player & Sneaky Git 90k

Stick E. Bunn
Fling stats/skills + Loner, Hypnotic gaze & Nerves of Steel 80k

Thing from the Pit 4-3-1-7 Foul Appearance, Disturbing Presence, Stand firm, Regen, Really Stupid, 90k

The Rounds

Round 1 – Black Ice!

The icy conditions have made it treacherous under-foot, as it is extremely slippy! The ice means that players may go for it 3xs. However, the ice makes it hard to keep control. GFIs are made using the throw in template to determine direction. If the player collides with another player, roll a d6 for both players. On a 4+ the player hits the ground (there is no armour/injury roll). If the moving player is not knocked over, they can continue going for it.

Round 2 – Multiball! (with thanks to Paul Wake a.k.a. Levinas)

Simple - there are two balls in play. Either can be used to score, once a touchdown has been scored set up the teams for the next drive (i.e. don't play on with the remaining ball).
Players cannot carry two balls (including mutants with three arms)!

1. Both teams, beginning with the kicking team, place a ball in the opposing team's half.
2. Scatter both balls. There is no touchback in Multiball... so place carefully! It entirely possible for one team to have both balls!
3. Roll on kick off table.
4. Resolve result (if High Kick is rolled apply the result to both teams).
5. Bounce/catch/touchback both balls.

Round 3 – Play your cards right!
Each coach is given 200gp to spend on cards. They can choose to allocate this cash as they like e.g. 1 x 200gp, 2 x 100gp or 4 x 50gp. The cards are, as usual, drawn randomly from the chosen set e.g. karma.

Round 4 – ‘Spuds Check!‘
The teams are playing their game in the most feared stadium in the Old World, the Neue Den. The crowd are baying for the blood of both sides and the atmosphere is not for the nervous and some players will buckle under the pressure! These guys are here to see blood not touchdowns!

A player has to show that they have the 'spuds' to score. When a ball carrying player approaches the line, they have to make a 'spuds check'. This is not rerollable On a 2+, everything is fine and they can go that final square into the endzone and score. However, if a 1 is the outcome, then the player does not have the 'spuds' to proceed. Their turn ends with them one step from touchdown glory and possibly ripe for a mauling !

Similarly, if a player is already in the endzone and is awaiting a pass/hand-off, they have to make the 'spuds check' to see if they have the bravery to catch the ball and provoke the ire of the baying hordes around them! On a 1, the player refuses to make the catch and the ball hits the deck, scattering 1 square.

A failed spuds check is not an automatic turnover. This means that there is the chance for protection to arrive for the ball carrying runner. Similarly, if the catch is refused, then the turn can continue if the ball lands in someone elses hands...

FAQs
Re: Black ice

If the active player is knocked down, will it be a turnover?

Yes

Is the direction decided after the roll to make the GFI is thrown? so no backing out when you realise that you've just gone for it into a diving tackler's tackle zone, making your next GFI even more interesting ?

The direction for your GFI is decided after you make the roll.

If you blitz someone and need to GFI to hit someone, you still have to roll for direction, so you might miss someone with a swing or two before you hit them (or you might miss them all together!)

Re: Spuds Check

What about a TTM landing in the end zone, while holding the ball? - After a successful landing, must a spuds check be made?

There is no need for a spuds check if you scatter into the endzone. However, if you land and then have to move to get into the endzone, a spuds check applies.

A spuds check is rolled before you make a GFI, if required, to make it into the endzone, or catch roll.

Yo,

1 - is there a limit to the number of skills that a player can be given?
2 - can star players be given additional skills?
3 - is there a limit to the number of stars that can be hired?

Ta,

Dfunk.

Crapola :( There go my plans of taking flings with either a HMP bomber or 2 super flings with 5 skills each.

Back to the drawing board.....

Just a rules point that might need clarified. Does touchback still apply if the ball leaves the pitch, just not if it crosses into the opposing half?

Also, with the Black Ice, in the event of a player collision, what squares do the players involved end up in? Does the moving player remain in his original square, or does he move to the new square and push back the other player? Do Juggernaut and Stand Firm apply?
