CACKBowl 2014 (November 29th & 30th) Chorley, Lancashire
CACKBowl is back for its second year because apparently the first time wasn't awful enough
The venue is the same, the general rulespack is the same (with a slight tweak to skill stacking: you can't stack until Game 5 on Sunday, and TV is increased to 1,150,000 because allowing star players is one thing but being able to afford them is also fun), and the intention of being pretty cheap and donating proceeds to charity is the same.
The full rulespack can be downloaded from the end of this very post
In there you will find full details of the venue and all the useful and important stuff you need to know; directions, hotels, timetable. All the stuff no one ever reads but always wants to ask.
Below you'll find a brief outline of the rules. Details have been submitted for NAF approval.
Rules:
Rounds:
There will be 6 rounds over the two days: 4 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday (for a lie in and early finish).
Team Selection:
We will be using the CRP/LRB6. This won't change.
- All 24 NAF approved teams are permitted.
- Coaches have 1,150,000 Gold Crowns to spend on their starting team.
- All inducements are allowed (except Wizards and Special Play cards).
- Teams must contain at least 11 players before any Star Players can be added to the roster.
- The 24 permitted races are organised into four groups:
--- Group One:..........Undead, Wood Elves, Amazons, Dwarves, Lizardmen, Chaos Dwarfs, Dark Elves, Norse, Skaven, Orc.
--- Group Two:.........Necromantic, Human, Chaos Pact, Khemri.
--- Group Three:.......High Elf, Pro Elf, Chaos, Nurgle, Underworld, Vampire, Slann.
--- Group Four:.........Halfling, Goblin, Ogre.
Teams start with a number of additional skills based on which group they fall into, no additional skill may be taken more than twice:
- Group One:.......None.
- Group Two:.......1x Normal Skill, 1x Double Skill/Normal Skill.
- Group Three:.....2x Normal Skill, 1x Double Skill/Normal Skill.
- Group Four:.......2x Normal Skill, 2x Double Skill/Normal Skill.
Development:
SPP's need to be recorded during the tournament, exactly as in a league, on all players except star players. MVP however isn't bothered with. It is a good idea then to bring a properly presented BB team roster for use!
Players do not develop as a result of gaining SPP's, but there will be a prize awarded for the player with the most SPP's at the end of the tournament.
Otherwise, this is a normal resurrection tournament:
- All player injuries/deaths are annulled after each game.
- Fan factor does not change between games.
- Teams do not earn winnings for each game they play.
- Any remaining cash in the treasury may not be spent between games.
Before games 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 start, once the draw has been made and coaches have had chance to view their opponents roster, coaches may add one Normal Skill to a player of their choice:
- This skill is kept until the end of the tournament.
- Skills may be stacked up to a maximum of two additional skills per player.
- HOWEVER, skills may not be stacked until Sunday, meaning that a player may not be given a second skill until before Game 5!
- No additional skill may be taken more than twice.
- Double Skills may not be taken after team creation.
Scoring:
Tournament points are awarded as follows:
- Win:.....3 points.
- Draw:...1 point.
- Loss:....0 points.
Tiebreakers will be:
- 1st:......Touchdown difference.
- 2nd:......Casualty difference.
Any questions, please ask.
Cheers,
JT.

Definitely interested, and I'm working on bringing more of a scouse contingent. We'd be likely to travel both days though, rather than stay over, and the first train on the Sunday is due into the train station (which seems to be very close) at 10:04. That wouldn't be a big problem, right?

No not at all. One of the reasons for doing 4/2 is to allow for locals to travel. I expect some to be commuting from Manchester, Preston and Lancaster.
The timetable on Sunday also allows 2.5hrs per game for more flexibility and because a 10:30 start seems very decadent.
And yes, the venue is very close to the station, barely a 5 minute walk.
Hope you can make it Noel.

No worries Stick.
I'm not expecting you or the Don to be free for this.
And yes Lancaster is not to far away. Shaniepoo came by train both days last year so very doable.

You guessed right Jon, I'll not be able to come to this unfortunately. Everyone else should though, it's great!

Sizzle!
In other news there may be an influx of returning players at this. Looks like a few friends from Derby way might be feeling the itch.
