Ribble Rumble BIG UPDATE (August 2nd & 3rd Preston Lancs)

Post by JT-Y »

The Ribble Rumble is back for its 4th year and is going to be even better than before. New sytems, new terrain, new rules, same great venue, same great night life and even more fun !!!

As always this will be a multi-system event comprising of the following game systems:

• Warhammer 40K – Highlander (separate draw from all comers)
• Flames of War - Campaign allied v axis
• Blood Bowl
• Bolt Action

So bring your mates and come play.
Details for all the other systems can be found on TWF.

Hopefully there should be no clash BB wise this year as TS isn't hosting BB. This one will be run by myself and Valen.

BB Rules:

• Team Value: 1,150,000gp.
• All inducements allowed (except Special Play cards and Wizards).
• All 24 NAF teams permitted.
• Teams must include 11 models BEFORE Star Players can be added.
• Standard resurrection rules (all players return un-injured for each game, no SPP development).
• Skills: 4x normal, 2x double (or single if you wish). No Stacking. No skill to be taken more than twice.
• Before each game, each coach may remove one of their opponents chosen skills.

Scoring:

Win: 10 points
Draw: 5 points
Loss: 0 points

+1 point per TD to a maximum of 3
+1 point per CAS to a maximum of 3

Voting for Best Team and Favourite Opponent will earn a coach a bonus of 5 points (there will be forms handed out for this, not completing them will mean you LOSE 5 POINTS!).

How To Enter:

Entry fee is £22 per player (tea and coffee all day both days included).
Entries should be sent via Paypal to: geoffhts@tiscali.co.uk

Please include ''Rumble Blood Bowl'' in the title, and include your NAF name and coach number.

Non NAF members must pay £27 to cover NAF membership.

Anything Else?:

The event is scheduled for 5 rounds as a whole, but BB will be 6 rounds: 4 rounds on Saturday, 2 rounds on Sunday (late start and early finish).
This is made possible by the change of venue (see below) which actually benefits us more than any of the other systems.

Change of Venue:
Due to a lull in the number of 40k entries (they're blaming this on 7th ed, I reckon they're right) the event has been moved to the Ribble Warriors normal home:

The new venue is just 1.9 miles from the Atrium on one of the main trunk roads into Preston at the following address:

The Frenchwood Social Club.

Strawberry Gardens,
Bence Rd,
Preston,
PR1 4NP

What does that mean ????

Well in practical terms, not much. It is a nice venue and recently refurbished. It has a fully stocked bar (unlike the Atrium) and prices are reasonable.
Parking is much easier, there is ample free parking outside without the risk of getting a ticket (a real risk near the uni, where residential passes are required).
Regarding accommodation, bear this is mind:
The new venue is FURTHER away from the Premier Inn and the Preston International.
The new venue is CLOSER to the Preston Holiday Inn.
The Travellodge Preston is very close. I haven't mentioned it in the past due to being much further from the Atrium than the other three.

It's also brighter and better lit that the Source bar at the Atrium, which is good for us. And the move means that we will be able to play 4 rounds on Saturday without having to worry about time constraints, so we are going ahead with 6 rounds and a lie in on Sunday morning.

Finally, the move means that the entry fee of £22 will include lunch and donuts, no extra payments required, which is a bit of a bonus.

That is it for now. I'll keep you informed.

Cheers,
JT.

Everyone should try to do something unpleasant at least once. It's character building.

I shall be coming, it would be rude not to go to my home tournament :) . I think only tea and coffee is free this year but it does mean we can have lunch at a time to suit 4 games.

Looking at having some funky tokens made as gifts for all the attendees.
I'll announce spot prizes later and see if we can do something special for the winner again this year (possibly a hardback A5 Icepelt edition, what do you think? ).

Entrants list added to the first post.

Also an update on food.
Ticket price is £22 per head, but for an extra £8 you can get a buffet lunch at the venue on both days.

That may not sound like the best offer ever, but the manager of the Atrium has reduced for us the price of the buffet from £7 per head per day to £5.
And we're only charging £4...

The menus look pretty decent also, 7 types of sandwich platter, so probably about 14 sandwich types, together with plenty of other stuff; pizzas, chicken wings, and so on.

Not a bad deal.

And there will be the usual Saturday night BBQ, so we're avoiding the constipation educing double BBQ Saturday this year.

Looking like the better half is away that weekend so it would be rude not to come seeing as its only 7min on train.

Cheers.

Just a reminder, please can people include their NAF name when sending payment. Payments don't come to me, they go to the treasurer at Warriors, and he doesn't play BB at all, so connecting real names and NAF names is a bit beyond him.

Failing that, just drop me a PM with real and NAF names and I'll try and sort the bones out of it.

Entrants updated. Filling up a bit now.

Anymore for anymore ????

Going to have to be a pest and ask for some entries and some money please. The organisers need to start getting more exact numbers confirmed for all the food and whatnot.

There is a good chance that the new casino opposite Room32 will be open by the time this rolls around, so I'll look into any comps' and the like that we can arrange.
