I look forward to the tournament immensely and hope we can all strive to make the Welsh Open a wonderful event.

The Players
All the players that attend the Tournament are expected to conduct themselves appropriately throughout the tournament. That includes playing the game in the right spirit, making sure they have everything they need (dice, templates, clear team rosters and their team!) and in general contributing to a friendly environment where everyone can enjoy both their games and the time spent in between rounds with their peers. The tournament organizers will do their best to ensure that the tournament runs smoothly and everything is provided to enable the players to get as much enjoyment as possible from the event, and likewise the players should do their utmost to hold up their end of the bargain. Most important of all, enjoy yourself!

If I've nothing better to do I suppose I could drag myself along to this......again!

Any ideas on if your changing the rule set or is it another dwarf- fest?? Maybe a 3 skill duplication rather than 4 or 2 ? Just a thought.... 8)

Hope to make it again - had a great time, though not with Dwarfs again!

Not sure if I can make it though, falls in a nasty time of the month for getting time off.

The rules are under thoughts. But one thing I will say is dwarfs will come regardless and function well with 4, 2 or any number of skills.

Limiting Denys other races like lizards and zons

I hope everyone brings dwarves because I'll be bringing a clawed up big guy.

Any news about a possible venue change to get an accessible tournament room. Not that I'm a cripple or anything, just asking.

I will be doing my best to turn up this year. We have a spare goalie now, so I should be able to miss some more weekends.

Looking into it.

I don't want to have to change price or compromise on the food. Let me see what I can sort out.

You could always tier the skills, so the likes of Dwarfs, Zons, undead, Orcs, Wood elves and lizardmen get 4 say. Whilst the average teams like humans, necromantics and norse get 6 whilst the weak ones like ogres, goblins and flings get 8.

That might encourage a little more diversity.

Just asking.

Have you thought of contacting he university student body. Usually works out cheap or free and has great facilities. Are any of your league players students there? If so they may be able to help.

The dwarf thing was weird; there were so many there in 2013!
However I dont think the skill selection had anything to do with that.
iirc we had 48 SPPs to scatter around the team, 2 skill stacking allowed and 4 spams allowed.

I've ran the Exiles Opens with 6 skills each, no stacking, since I started and it's not really been a problem with Dwarf overload :)
2012 had 3 Dwarfs from 26 players.
2012 Speedbowl 0 Dwarfs from 20 players (though this may be a special case ;) )
2011 saw 1 Dwarf team from 40 players
2010 had 2 Dwarfs from 22 players
2009 again 1 Dwarf from 20 players.

Honestly I think it was just coincedence there were so many Dwarfs there and the loud mouths were just crying over playing all of them (and, yes, I was one of those loud mouths ;).
