Chaos of the Warp: Diet Bowl 05/05/2013 (New Date!)

Post by Iranian Spy »

Chaos of the Warp: Diet Bowl
Tickets now available here: http://www.chaosofthewarp.co.uk

Why should you go to this tournament?
This tournament has been designed to be less rules intense than others so this is the perfect tournament for newer players to Blood Bowl.
With the usual plethora of prizes, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to take something away. There are even non-Blood Bowl related prizes!
Get rewarded for drinking diet drinks. Lose weight and play Blood Bowl!
This tournament is the only tournament to come with its own health warning...

How are those New Years weight loss plans going? Did you manage to stickto those Lent plans? Are all those Easter eggs going to hit you like a full-on Morg N Thorg block?
We at Chaos of the Warp have decided to give you a helping hand by introducing a new concept in Blood Bowl – dieting!
In addition to rewarding players for the unimportant stuff like actual play skill, Chaos of the Warp: Diet Bowl will reward players for the important things in life like the ability to chug as many cans of diet juice as possible. We think that aspartame is so important that we went ahead and made a trophy for it to award the player who can drink the most. Do you have the ability to out-diet the other players at the tournament?

Team Selection:
For Chaos of the Warp: Diet Bowl, you will have 1,050,000 gold crowns to put your team together. The “Competition Rules Pack” (aka LRB6) will be used. All 24 teams are permitted including Slann, Chaos Pact and Underworld. Inducements are permitted aside from Team Wizards and Special Play Cards. Up to 2 Star Players are allowed in your team.

Skills Choices:
In this tournament you will be allowed 4 regular (non-doubles choice) skills for your players. You are limited by up to 2 copies of the same skill per team, for example: a Chaos team could give up to 2 players ‘Block’ but no more. You may only have 1 additional skill per player (no stacking skills) and Star Players may not be given additional skills.

Point Scoring and Prizes:
Points are awarded per game as follows –
Win: 30
Draw: 10
Loss: 0

In the case of a tie for the overall winner, the total of the difference between touchdowns plus the difference between casualties caused will win. If that is a tie we will count the cans of diet juice drunk over the period of the day as the winner.
There will be a prizes on the day for the Winner, a Most Awesome Looking Team award and The Skinny Coach trophy for the person who drinks the most cans of diet juice on the day (drinks must be consumed in front of your opponents and placed into your own personal can bag which will be supplied to you on the day. Drinks will not be supplied but you can be bought from the bar. There is potential for more prizes on the day depending on numbers and help from our wonderful sponsors!
Schedule:
The tournament will comprise of 3 matches using the Swiss format

09.00-10.00 Pre meeting get together
10.00-12.30 Game 1

Any rules or Blood Bowl related queries should go to Shaheen Savarnejad (aka Shazz, aka Iranian Spy) on shaheen_savarnejad@hotmail.com. For any questions you may have regarding dietary constraints, please contact your physician.

Thinking about coming along? What we need from you:
We need you to bring your own board, two copies of your roster, dice and templates. Be prepared to share your dice and templates at your opponent’s request. In addition to tournament points, you will be given a results sheet to record your touchdowns and casualties on. You will also be asked to vote for the most awesome looking team played at the event. ALL CASUALTIES in a match, regardless of cause, count for end of game casualty totals.

NAF Approved. Same weekend as Merseybowl but plenty of distance between the two.

Won't be able to attend this one unfortunately. Good luck with it though Shazz!

Thanks guys :D probably catch you both at Monkeybowl next!

This will be 3 games on this occasion. I want to focus on making this as new-player friendly as possible as we have a few of them up here with an league having just started up in Glasgow and in Moray amongst others.

After taking a leaf out of the Exiles playbook, I hope to host a Speedbowl of 5 games at some point in the future - possibly this year

FFS. Well, I can't change again now. Chaos of the Warp runs 4 times a year and we just cancelled one of them. To postpone again would mean shipping it to August or something.

That's a real shame as we've advertised this date for over two months now, just means that unfortunately we'll be competing for players attending. I know a couple of guys from Scotland where thinking of coming and that there have been a few who've been already, just hope that attendance doesn't suffer.

With the calendar starting to fill up I understand this may happen, but there is still plenty of 'spare' weekends around that date if it is an option to reschedule again (Understand you've already said you won't, but worth suggesting it).

Have you updated with the NAF yet too, having two tournaments on the same date in a similar region may affect one of our NAF statuses?

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

As far as I understand it, the players going to Block have already committed. I know Phil is going for sure and I think there is at least one other...

It's not our intention to grab players that way. We've also pushed this tournament as a newer-player friendly tournament and have focussed on talking to newer players who don't usually attend tournaments. We've spoke to local Scottish leagues (MAGE, GBBL, some chaos of the warp regulars, the attendees of the Bridie Bowl) in the hope that we can bring out more people rather than compete for the regulars.

I've updated on the NAF website and understand this might affect our NAF status. I wouldn't want it to complicate Blocks' and would accept it if we lost the NAF status for this tournament.

On a side note, sorry about the previous 'FFS' above. That was a snap reaction after I had just realised that this clashed with Block. Just to reiterate, this is not my intention but CotW runs on a fairly strict timeline since it acts as a host for multiple tournaments at the same time. To that end, my hands are tied to 4 dates throughout the year.
