2018 TFF Legacy team - base style/colour/size

Post by lunchmoney »

Seperate from the team colours is the basing style.

Base edges will be left black and the contributor's TFF nickname painted on the front facing side.

Your suggestions so far:
dreamscreator - sand and paint in grey scale too.
Loki - grass base so a 'graveyard' type thing could be done.
frogboy - Dead grass or night time grass would be cool
spubbbba - bare earth (so fine sand painted black and highlighted in grey) with patches of dead grass

I'll add a poll at the weekend

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

I would suggest establishing base SIZE as well ;)

What's the standard mini base size? 25mm? I've never measured it.

I would suggest all sticking to the standard round size in order to fit on the squares of the majority of pitches (IE not the new bigger GW bases).

However it's not me that will be building/painting these things :)

My preference would be 25mm bases.

32mm bases are too big if the eventual winner only has an old style board. 25mm would be better.

I'm up for any kind of base style but do it in grey scale.

25mm bases

I think bare earth (so fine sand painted black and highlighted in grey) with patches of dead grass would look good.

Pitch lines and debris could be added too if desired.

Does anyone have an example of what the base should look like?

It's a valid question, I guess there's a chance we could end up with vastly different looking bases if we're not careful.

For what it's worth, my initial thought was a simple enough drybrushed (layers of grey over black) base with patches of dark grass in clumps. I even recieved some Citadel burnt grass from a friend last night that I had planned to use for my entry into the legacy team and my own Vampire team.

As it was my suggestion, here is a pic of what I was thinking. I’d suggest sand glued with PVA to the base then painted black, drybrushed mid grey then a sparing drybrush of light grey or bone. Add some patches of flock and/or static grass, maybe with a wash of brown or black if they are looking too healthy.
Image
You could also add some pebbles to represent bits of debris along with things like rusty kit, bones or pitch markings.

If you want more detail there is a handy article on Blood Bowl themed basing on the NAF site I wrote a couple of years ago.

Is everyone is happy with spubbbba's suggestion? Looks good and easy to achieve.
