Our lads managed a very close 2-1 win over the Mediogres. We were up 2-0 but the Ogres answered with a perfectly thrown Snotling TD, then got a BLITZ after the Hooligans had set up strong to one side. The ball ended up wide open and an Ogre deftly stepped under it for the catch. Goblins brought him down but the Ogres got it again and reestablished position. With a turn to go, Red Mountain sent as many gobs as possible to make the Ogre's TD run as difficult as possible. The Ogre blitzed out to force OT but failed the Dodge, even with Break Tackle, to seal it for the Hooligans.

Next up - the near-2-million-TV CDs in our division! Should be fun or bloody or both!

Nice (I mean the win, not the prospect of next game bloodshed)! :P

Nuffle continues to smile upon our lads as they defeat the Chaos Dwarves 2-0! King Joe was our real MVP as the Dirty Player gob injured two Dwarves on the first two turns with well-placed boots - one Move Break and one DEAD! Ref ejected him after the second one, took our bribe as well, but we couldn't blame him!

The CDs' rookie mino fell down while GFI and injured himself on turn two. Bolt Throwa, our HMP Bomber, threw a Hail Mary that was caught by the ball-carrying bull, who then threw it only to have it be inaccurate and knock down two CDs protecting him! Steady Eddy the Pogoer bounced in and POWed the bull, springing the ball! Gobs were able to keep fouling while the Ed brothers smashed hobgoblins and the Hooligans managed to scamper off for a 2nd TD to seal it!

Up next, the Pro Elves of the BEBOP COLA MACHINE coached by Tim "In Your Face" Lyons! Our fanatic Dizzy Dirk will miss the game and the Elves have three missing players of their own!

WOW!
That was indeed one bloody match, and one with a very unexpected outcome for sure!!!!

Fingers crossed those "boots" keep hot enough to "quilt" the pitch with elf bits...

The Elves won the coin toss and elected to kick. The Hooligans set up to mash some pointy ears but a PITCH INVASION totally wrecked those plans! One troll got stunned, the other troll went Stupid and our lads couldn't set up either a good DP foul or a chainsaw blitz. Elves flowed in and the goblins could never get anything going. We lost 3-0. :)

King Joe did SI an Elf Blitzer on a foul (miss next game!) and was named MVP for his efforts. That however was the lone bright spot for Red Mountain.

Up next - a rematch with the Orcamite Fighting Champs! The Orcs will have revenge on their minds after the Hooligans upset them earlier this season but they have a tough match with the Lollipop Forest Thunderers (Dark Elves) before they get to us! The Orcs are battling for their playoff lives so if they beat the Elves they may only want to beat us, not destroy us. But if the Elves take them down, the Orcs will have extra motivation to crush our lads! Is this the end of the Hooligans? Or will Nuffle smile upon them again?

Find out next time!

The Orcamites got their revenge but the Hooligans made them fight for every inch in a 2-1 overtime defeat.

The Hooligans received and good off to a good start, fouling, and spinning, and hail mary bombing. The lads made good progress but the coach (me) made a big mistake in the middle of the first half. Our Looney went for a foul and saw-ed himself, which we rerolled, then rolled doubles, which we bribed, which was stolen by the ref so we bribed again, which worked.

But I quickly realized I had gotten frustrated and spent both my bribes too quickly, meaning all three weapons would leave after this drive and I still wanted to foul!

We sprang Pogoer Steady Eddy to run clear for a next-turn TD, but failed goblin dodges (stupid Orc Tackle!) left him open to the blitz, which promptly injured him. We had to use our wizard and were able to regroup, even burn a turn, then scored.

The Orcs had two turns but couldn't equalize before the half. His KOs were not good so we actually out-manned him 10-8 in the second half and we had two trolls plus Ripper! He tried to push through, a scrum ensued, and he ran his Blodging Blitzer ballcarrier into the open trying to make a break for it. Over two turns, we threw 8 dice at him and #8 was a POW but we couldn't recover. We went all out, knowing we only had to grab the ball and run away with it or punt it to seal the win, but the Orcs were two strong. One troll got KOed and the other was neutralized by the Orc troll. Ripper was tied up with a Stand Firm BoB. We made one last effort to at least down a Blitzer for the foul and BH a goblin by failing a dodge!

The Orcs scored on turn 8 and our 1-turn TD failed on the pick-up. That is the worst - it never even really got started!

For OT, Orcs rolled a 10 for kick/receive...and so did we.
Then the Orcs rolled an 8 for kick/receive...and so did we.
Then the Orcs rolled a 6 for kick/receive...and so did we.
Then the Orcs rolled a 7 for kick/receive...and so did we.
Then the Orcs rolled a 2 for kick/receive...and we chose to receive!

This seemed to indicate Nuffle would smile on us again as we then earned a reroll back on the KO result, despite not having fame.

Pick-up was good, hand off was good, Really Stupid was good, Always Hungry was good...then the troll fumbles the throw. :P

We were pretty well clumped up so we saved the reroll and let the goblin fall. He was okay but the Orcs rushed in. We had one more turn to try and clear some space for a desperation run...and both trolls went stupid.

That was it, Orcs began to smash everyone. Ripper was BH, Bigger Ed was BH and Big Ed was KOed. The Orcs spent the last two turns waiting on the goal line and fouling out the last goblins, once with their troll! I had to respect that and the Orcs scored the match winner after pitch clearing our Hooligans!

So we fall to 4-3 on the season but we secured that all-important single standings point for losing in OT and we still lead the division! Up next, we have an Underworld team that has to play bashy Human AND bashy Chaos before playing us, then we close with back-to-back division rematches with the Chaos Dwarves and Dwarves. Thanks to everyone rooting for our lads as we try to reach 7 wins in this improbable season!

What an intense game!

Totally understand how you feel about burning those bribes so early.
It's so frustrating loosing key players so early in the game, that is really easy to completely forget the "global picture" of the game.

In this kind of team match-ups, OT games tend to be (even more) less forgiving to stunty's, therefore the orc "pitch cleaning" ain't that much of a surprise outcome.
Still, I would say it was a very respectable loss, so congrats for it!
And if there were no major injuries for next game even better (I mean, orcs tend to leave some very nasty bruises...).

I wonder...
If the troll had made the pass, and the Hooligans managed to score early in OT, do you believe the goblins could have stranded the orcs for the rest of the drive?
How many of the H's where on the pitch by then (no secret weapons I presume)?

No major injuries, the Orcs had NINE Badly Hurts. :)

In our league, OT is sudden death so if we complete the goblin throw and score it was game over, we win. :(

In OT, we had Ripper, both trolls, and (I think) 5 goblins. I remember thinking, after the troll failed the throw, that the goblin would fall back down in the cluster of my players and the ball would be safe, which did happen. The Orcs rushed in, as we knew they would, and I thought I might be able to use two trolls to clear the third for a second throw attempt...but then two of them went Stupid and that was game. :)

Still, we are proud of our effort and look forward to the UW, especially if they get roughed up before they play us!

Thanks for reading and for the thoughts! :)

Oh...I see.
That would be grand indeed!
(Those "Ed's" really needed a kick in the butt to wake up...)

Anyway, time to start sharpening those spiked boots for the next victims...err... I mean opponents!

Have fun,

In our ugliest match of the season, we lost to the Underworld 2-0. One of those games where everything SHOULD have favored us but every single thing went the UWs way. We had an early HMP bomb that blew open a cage and we recovered but even after holding the ball all half and HMPing the ball across the pitch trying to prevent the score, the UW went coast-to-coast with no rerolls easily to score on their final turn and force our Fanatic and Looney in for one turn - a total failure.

The worst part about Goblins (and the only place a rules revision is needed) is that they are the only team in Blood Bowl where your opponent can dictate how you get to enjoy the main component of your team. Put your weapons in, they score early, you lose them. Keep them out, the opponent stalls and you get them for a turn. So frustrating. Goblins should be able to field less than eleven players for a drive! Completely thematic (cheating!) and not broken in the least.

Okay, rant over - moving on!

Up next - divisional rematch with the CDs. We have them then the Dwarves again and if we win both we win the division. Our margin for error is gone, our backs are against the wall - just the way the Hooligans like it!

Aww...
One of those days, huh?
It looks like it's gonna be two finals then!
Go Hooligans!

And hope you show those bearded teams why they shouldn't mess around with players their own size!!!
:orc:

Cheers,
A.

PS: Fingers crossed you get to "neutralize" that Russell dude early in the game!
