1.1M tournie lizards

Post by bouncergriim »

Thinking of taking lizardmen to a 1100k tournie.
of that 1100k only 100k may be spent on skills (2 max of the same skill, max of two skills on a player). also you could get +1mv or +av but no extra skills.
I am going with
1 krox
6 sauri
4 skinks
2 rr
2 ff

I know I am going to get block on two of the sauri for sure and probably guard on the Krox, but from there I am torn so here is the question which is better
2 other sauri with wrestle OR 2 skinks with Side step OR a juggernaut strip ball sauri?
Or should I drop guard and go for two doubles skills like sure hands on some skinks?

Guard on two Saurii makes it very difficult for most races to block down your line.

Do doubles skills cost 30k? Wrestle and/or Sure Hands on Skinks is a life-saver.

I like that idea, stack the might blow and block on two sauri.

I was trying to think of how to mitigate TO by choosing skills that reduce the likelihood of a failed roll. But attrition is very useful against elves and other fast teams that I might go against. Last year in the tournie, dark elves took the top spot.

looking at my original roster idea, which is best? (All have 1krox, 6sauri and 4skinks +):
2 RRs, 1AC, 1CL
1RR and 1 spare skink, 1AC, 1CL
1RR and an apoth, 1FF, 1AC, 1CL
ORR and sub hemlock for a skink,1FF, 1AC, 1CL

I'd go with that, or maybe 2 FF.

1 Reroll is absolutely not enough for Lizardmen. 3 would be nice, but buying skills out of your 1100k budget makes that difficult.

very hard ruleset for lizards :(

i would go one of the following ways:
6 saurus (block, block, wrestle)
5 skink (sure hands)
1 kroxi (leader)
1 RR, 2 AC, 2 CL
6 saurus (block, block, guard)
4 skink (sure hands)
1 kroxi (leader)
2 RR, 1 AC, 1 CL, 2FF
6 saurus (block, block, wrestle, Leader)
5 skink (sure hands)
1 hemlock
1 RR, 1 AC, 1 CL
6 saurus (block, block)
3 skink
1 hemlock
1 kroxi (leader)
1 RR

With only 2x Block on your Sauri, 2 RR are a not enough. Without Block or Wrestle you will fail a 2d Block at a chance of 1/9. With 2 RR you simply cannot afford to correct that result often... :-?

You will need either more RR or more Skills for blocking... So I would take Wrestle and/or Leader (if Leader than skill the Kroxi, he will last longer than the Sauri)

At 1.1m I think the common build is krox, 6 saurii, 5 skinks, 3 rr. I wouldn't deviate from that.
EDIT: nm I didn't realize the 100 for skills came from the 1.1m

I prefer the guard on your saurii - you don't need to pass a test to move them, they don't lose tackle zones unless knocked down and still have the ST to make it daunting to hit them even without block. For the final skill I would usually take tackle just to have it - 2 dice is still a 75% chance to take them down, just on a block result you would go down too. An alternative is break tackle on the krox.

To be pedantic, the plural of Saurus is Sauruses.
